Tile launches lost and found tags

Date:

The Tile company has been offering these little trackers for years, which you can stick to your belongings and thus find them again at any time or report them as lost. However, so far the devices are by no means the cheapest alternative, especially if your battery is not replaceable and you have to swap out a brand new device at the end of battery life. But the company now has a solution for this, at least in the US, which can be implemented on at least many objects: QR code stickers.

Those are available in packs of three with 3x 5 QR stickers for just under US$15. When scanned, the code returns all the information (previously personalized online) that a searcher needs to be able to retrieve the item. Of course, this won’t help you much in case of theft. The advantage: you don’t need a battery for it and the stickers should even withstand dishwashing cycles, and they are also scratch resistant. Both iOS and Android users can scan the stickers as no special app is required. The product page isn’t in this country yet, so I can’t say when the stickers will be available to local users.
