It’s been around three years since Trials Rising was the last full Ubisoft game to appear on Steam. Since then, the company’s titles have only been available through the Epic Games Store or Ubisoft Connect. That could change again soon.
Ubisoft on Steam: the clues point to a return
Many developers and publishers have created their own launcher for their games in the past, and Ubisoft has also pulled out of Steam entirely. Now, however, there is mounting evidence that that the company could return to Steam – a plus, in the past there were general complaints about the numerous launchers and the consequent loss of overview.
Already at the end of 2021 pointed out a new version of the Ubisoft Connect client on Steam. Now the Github organization YoobieRE, which is working on a Steam DB equivalent for Ubisoft Connect, has gotten some remarkable information. These include the designations “Internal Dev/QC – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla ‘ and ‘Roller Champions Steam’ (Source: Steam DB / YoobieRE).
There is now a theory that Ubisoft, developer and publisher, a return to steam plans, but a connection to Ubisoft Connect may still exist. Many games lead to the publisher account system once they’re released on Steam, so it wouldn’t be surprising or unusual.
After a break, companies like EA, Microsoft, and Activision are releasing their games on Steam again. Probably because, for example Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reaches a new milestone in PC sales and is currently the best-selling CoD game in the series (source: Activision Blizzard).

Why did Ubisoft pull out of Steam?
In 2019, Ubisoft told the New York Times that Steam’s business model was “unrealistic.” He is probably referring to the shares that need to be paid to platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store. They should probably be cheaper at Epic Games, from which both developers and players benefit should (source: New York Times / pc gamers).
