Sedan RWECEO Markus Krebber accuses the EU Commission of blocking entry into the hydrogen economy. Regulation that is too demanding and complicated “completely strangles the necessary momentum of the hydrogen economy,” Krebber said in an interview with Handelsblatt.

The RWE chief, for his part, praised investment conditions in the US, where the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) “created very attractive conditions for climate protection investments.” Long-term stability and pragmatism are crucial.

The RWE chief has expressed doubts about the federal government’s expansion targets for offshore wind. He isn’t sure if the providers have enough capacity. “It starts with the turbines and ends with the capabilities of the installation ships. None of this can be scaled at will any time soon,” Krebber said.
