Last Thursday night, Gorillas invited their staff in Berlin to a small Christmas party: Xmas Drinks. At that time, hardly any of the employees knew that the last night as an independent company was going to be watered at the same time. The next day, the company would have a new owner: its competitor Getir.

The celebration had been planned for a long time. It was a coincidence that it took place the night before the contract was signed. Negotiations had been going on for several weeks, and it had long been clear that the purchase would go through. Originally, the signature should have been signed at the end of November, but the process was delayed. They last met in Amsterdam, where Gorillas has its official headquarters as a registered joint stock company BV

But in the end it all happened very fast. Last Friday, around noon, the first media reports came in: get buy gorillas, the deal was sealed. Many employees also first found out about it through the news, as important gorilla news used to happen in the past.
