After Insomniac Games released two excellent superhero games with “Marvel’s Spider-Man” and its sequel “Miles Morales”, with the nominally second part they were able to increase these achievements even further. The fight against the hunter Kraven and the alien Venom claimed some victims, but in the end it also laid the groundwork for a possible sequel. “Marvel’s Spider-Man 3” for PS5: What will it be about?
Even before the credits roll, it’s clear which direction “Spider-Man 3” will go in. Because Norman Osborn is mad at spiders. They managed to free Harry from the symbiote’s clutches, but Norman’s son is now in a coma. Shortly before the credits roll, he calls someone to prepare the “G-Serum.” Comic and movie fans of the spider heroes know what happens next: Osborn becomes extremely strong due to the storm, but he also goes crazy. From then on he makes life difficult for Spider-Man as the “Green Goblin.” But that is not enough.
In the mid-credits scene, Norman visits Dr. Otto Octavius in his cell on the raft. The two can’t stand each other because of their past, but “Doc Ock” also seems to have something against Spider-Man. When the businessman asks him what he is writing about, the answer is sinister: “The last chapter.”

So it’s clear that Insomniac wants to make another Spider-Man game. Additionally, there are open endings in the game. “The Flame” was able to escape with a sample of the symbiote. His final monologue reveals that, although he is not Cletus Kasady, he mutates into the crude Venom variant, Carnage. The Spider-Men also find the apartment of Kraven’s brother, who turns out to be the Chameleon. In the comics he was Spider-Man’s first adversary, but in the world of Insomniac he appears to have inflicted a tough defeat on Peter. When you leave the apartment, you can see that the villain is watching the spider heroes.

Last but not least is the post-credits scene where Albert and Cindy Moon are introduced. The latter in particular is interesting in the “Spider-Man” canon because she acts as the superhero Silk in the comics. Since Miles was similarly introduced as a second Spider-Man in the first game, it begs the question of what Insomniac will do next with the series.
Carnage and the Chameleon could be addressed through DLC. This was already done in the first game, where, for example, it was told how the breakup between Peter and Yuri occurred. A kind of subtitle, like “Miles Morales,” for Silk would also be conceivable.
Depending on how the developers proceed, it could be some time before we can pass through New York again. Five years passed between the first and second games, so a release of “Marvel’s Spider-Man 3” is possible in 2028. “Miles Morales”, on the other hand, premiered at the launch of the PS5 at the end of 2020 So if this route is taken, there may be a reunion with all the spider heroes in 2025.
