Shueisha Games has opened the doors to its upcoming multiplayer title VIVA NOBOTS, launching a North American open beta test today on Steam. The online deception-action game invites players to infiltrate ancient ruins disguised as robots, outsmart rivals, and steal valuable treasure — all in a competitive multiplayer environment.
The beta test runs through March 22 and offers players a free opportunity to experience the game’s core mechanics before its planned Spring 2026 release.
A Multiplayer Game of Disguise and Deception
In VIVA NOBOTS, players assume the role of rookie treasure hunters attempting to blend in among excavation robots known as “NOBOTs.” Their mission: infiltrate ruins, uncover hidden treasure, and escape without exposing their true identity.
The twist is that every other player in the ruins is doing the exact same thing.
Each match supports up to 16 players, all disguised as identical robots and competing for the same treasure. The challenge lies in spotting subtle behavioral cues that might reveal another player’s disguise — or keeping your own movements convincing enough to avoid suspicion.
If a player suspects someone is not a real robot, they can deploy a Doubt Gun, a tool that exposes impostors and allows them to seize the treasure that player has collected.
Alternatively, cautious players can focus on quietly collecting rewards and leaving the ruins before becoming a target.
Slot Machines and Treasure Hunting Mechanics
Treasure hunting in VIVA NOBOTS relies heavily on slot machine mechanics scattered throughout the ruins. By activating these machines, players can uncover valuable items, medals, and rare treasures.
This mechanic adds an element of chance similar to casino-style systems familiar to many online game players. But activating slots also increases risk, since other players may notice the activity and attempt to expose the operator.
Balancing stealth, risk-taking, and observation is central to the gameplay experience.
Key Features in the Open Beta
Power Fruits and Skill Upgrades
Players can collect Power Fruits and Medals hidden throughout the ruins. These items unlock abilities and tools that allow players to customize their NOBOT disguise and gameplay strategy.
Some upgrades improve treasure hunting efficiency, while others enhance the ability to detect and eliminate rival players.
Android Security Patrols
The ruins are also patrolled by humanoid security robots called Androids, developed by the fictional NPC Corp.
These AI-controlled enemies disguise themselves as ordinary excavation bots, making them difficult to distinguish from real players. Once they identify a threat, however, they attack immediately.
Their presence adds another layer of unpredictability to each match.
GOD POT Jackpot Events
Periodically, the game triggers special GOD POT jackpot events.
During these events, players can excavate rare rainbow-colored Treasure Stones and attempt to land a special symbol combination that unlocks a large medal reward.
However, attempting the jackpot often draws attention from other players, turning the hunter into a target.
Unlocking the Hidden City of Gol Dorado
Players who collect all 16 map fragments scattered throughout the ruins can unlock Gol Dorado, a hidden golden city.
Unlike the main ruins, this special zone allows players to excavate rare treasures in a private space without interference from rivals. It offers a high-reward opportunity for dedicated players who successfully complete the map collection challenge.
