Story-Driven Trucking Simulator Expands to PC Following Console Release
Dutch publisher SOEDESCO and developer Kyodai announced that Truck Driver: The American Dream will launch on Steam for PC on May 29, 2026. The game, which is already available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, brings its narrative-focused trucking experience to PC players alongside a major content update across all platforms.
The release comes as simulation and driving games continue to attract strong audiences in the U.S. gaming market, where trucking simulators have developed a dedicated fan base through titles that blend long-haul driving with open-road exploration.
Trucking Gameplay Combined With Storytelling
Players Follow the Career Journey of a Young Truck Driver
Unlike traditional trucking simulators focused primarily on logistics and route management, Truck Driver: The American Dream incorporates a story-driven structure centered on a character named Nathan.
Players take on the role of the aspiring truck driver as he builds his career, develops personal relationships, and navigates life on the road across a fictionalized American landscape. The game combines delivery missions with narrative elements designed to create a more personal and cinematic experience.
According to SOEDESCO, the title aims to offer more than standard cargo transportation gameplay by emphasizing character progression and emotional storytelling alongside driving mechanics.
A playable demo is currently available on Steam, giving players access to the game’s opening chapter as well as several Freedom-to-Roam missions before launch.
Major Update Adds New Missions and Features
Steering Wheel Support and Visual Upgrades Included
The upcoming Steam launch will coincide with a substantial update rolling out simultaneously for PlayStation and Xbox players.
Among the largest additions are 10 new Freedom-to-Roam missions, bringing the total number of optional side activities to more than 150. The update also introduces an additional drivable truck for free-roam gameplay.
For driving simulation enthusiasts, expanded steering wheel compatibility has been added, including support for several popular Logitech, Thrustmaster, HORI, and Fanatec devices commonly used by sim-racing and trucking fans.
The update includes support for:
- Logitech G923, G920, and G29
- Thrustmaster T128, T248, T80, and T300RS
- HORI DLX AB-05
- Fanatec DD systems
Visual improvements are also part of the update package. Players on supported hardware will have access to hardware and software ray tracing, along with NVIDIA DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 4 support aimed at improving graphics performance and image quality on PC.
A redesigned graphics settings menu and a dedicated Steam Deck profile have also been added to improve compatibility with portable PC gaming devices.
New Gameplay Systems Expand Immersion
Hunger Mechanics and Treasure Hunt Mode Added
The update introduces several gameplay systems intended to make the trucking experience feel more immersive.
A new hunger system requires players to manage Nathan’s food intake by purchasing meals at gas stations, restaurants, and roadside rest stops during trips. The feature reflects a growing trend in simulation games toward survival-lite mechanics that encourage players to engage more deeply with the game world.
Another addition is the Vista System “treasure hunt” mode, which encourages exploration by rewarding players for discovering hidden locations and points of interest throughout the environment.
The game’s world map has also received visual upgrades, while story-mode avatars for major characters have been updated.

SOEDESCO Builds on Growing Trucking Simulation Audience
Truck Driver: The American Dream is part of SOEDESCO’s broader Truck Driver franchise, which includes titles such as Truck Driver, Truck Driver: Go, Truck Driver: Gold Edition, and Truck Driver: The Dutch Connection.
The franchise has focused on blending accessible trucking gameplay with open-road exploration and customization features.
