Political Spy Thriller ‘Burn-9’ Revealed for PC by Fellow Traveller and 14 Hours Productions

Date:

New Espionage Game Puts Players in the Role of a Remote Intelligence Operator

Indie publisher Fellow Traveller and developer 14 Hours Productions have unveiled Burn-9, a new political spy thriller coming to PC in 2026.

The game was introduced with a reveal trailer this week and draws inspiration from the cinematic espionage storytelling associated with creators such as Hideo Kojima as well as the military and intelligence fiction popularized by Tom Clancy.

Unlike many modern action games, Burn-9 places players not on the battlefield, but behind a computer screen directing operations from afar. The game centers on surveillance, intelligence gathering and difficult ethical choices rather than direct combat alone.

Players Guide a Lone Operative Through a Failed Mission

Remote Decision-Making Drives the Story

In Burn-9, players take on the role of an intelligence operator tasked with assisting the last surviving member of an elite black-operations team after a classified mission collapses.

The field agent, known as Dodo, must navigate hostile environments while players monitor surveillance systems, gather intelligence and relay instructions in real time.

According to the developers, every piece of information gathered during missions can influence the story and determine how events unfold. Players must decide what intelligence to share, what information to withhold and which individuals can be trusted.

The structure reflects a growing trend in narrative-driven games where player decisions shape both gameplay outcomes and broader political storylines.

Surveillance and Hacking Systems Play a Central Role

Espionage Gameplay Focuses on Information Control

Rather than emphasizing traditional gunplay, Burn-9 centers heavily on digital surveillance and infiltration systems.

Players will use military-grade technology to hack security networks, disable cameras, breach locked areas and uncover hidden data. The game’s mechanics are designed around the idea that information itself is the most powerful weapon available.

Developers said small details can drastically affect missions, creating tension through observation and strategic decision-making instead of constant action sequences.

The gameplay approach may appeal to players who enjoy slower-paced tactical experiences similar to intelligence-focused thrillers in film, television and gaming.

Moral Choices Shape the Experience

Story Explores Loyalty, Secrecy and Political Pressure

A major focus of Burn-9 appears to be the moral complexity surrounding covert operations and military decision-making.

Throughout the game, players are expected to confront uncomfortable choices while balancing mission objectives against ethical concerns. The developers suggest the story will challenge players to question both the orders they receive and the systems they serve.

The game’s tone aligns with political and espionage dramas that have long been popular with U.S. audiences, particularly stories centered on government secrecy, intelligence agencies and the human cost of covert warfare.

By placing players in a command-and-control role instead of direct combat, Burn-9 also reflects the increasing presence of remote warfare technologies and surveillance systems in modern military discussions.

Steam Demo Arriving During Steam Next Fest

PC Release Planned for 2026

Burn-9 is currently scheduled for release on PC via Steam sometime in 2026.

Players will get an earlier opportunity to experience the game during Steam Next Fest, which runs from June 15 through June 22. A playable demo will be available through the game’s Steam page during the event.

Steam Next Fest has become a major discovery platform for independent games, often helping smaller studios build attention ahead of launch through limited-time demos and livestreams.

Fellow Traveller, known for publishing narrative-focused indie titles, continues expanding its portfolio with games centered on political themes, moral dilemmas and story-driven gameplay experiences.

Looking Ahead

With its emphasis on surveillance, intelligence gathering and player-driven moral decisions, Burn-9 aims to offer a different kind of espionage experience than traditional military shooters. As anticipation builds ahead of its 2026 release, the game could attract players looking for a more psychological and strategy-focused take on the modern spy thriller genre.
