Expanded Presence Highlights Growing Industry

Gamescom, held annually in Cologne, Germany, is widely recognized as the world’s largest video game trade show, attracting developers, publishers, media and gamers from around the globe.

For 2026, the Greek National Delegation will exhibit in Hall 10.2, Stand E-041g, where visitors can explore new and recently released titles from independent studios across Greece.

According to EKKOMEΔ, the initiative aims to strengthen Greece’s position as an emerging center for digital creativity and interactive entertainment while helping local developers connect with publishers, investors and business partners from international markets.

The organization said it remains focused on supporting innovation and expanding opportunities for Greek studios to reach global audiences.

Featured Greek Games at Gamescom 2026

Astra: Fading Stars

Developed by Dimension Omega, Astra: Fading Stars is a Metroidvania action-adventure platformer scheduled for release on PC in 2026.

Players control Celina as she battles corruption in a world where the stars are fading. A signature gameplay mechanic known as the Astra Call allows players to interact with the environment while parrying enemy attacks, combining exploration with combat in a mysterious fantasy setting.

Bassai-Dai

Independent developer Kaloplay is showcasing Bassai-Dai, an action-adventure game centered on a giant magical ink brush.

Inspired by both Greek and Japanese mythology, the game combines puzzle-solving, platforming and fast-paced combat as players search for and rescue their family. A release date has not yet been announced, with versions planned for PC and consoles.

Dunestake

Created by Eteros Studios, Dunestake offers a different take on the autobattler genre by adding a betting system to gladiator combat.

Players build teams of gladiators, predict battle outcomes and risk valuable units for greater rewards. The strategy roguelike is scheduled to launch on Steam in the first quarter of 2027, with a playable demo already available.

Luminas: Parasite Reign

SOTO Game Studio will present Luminas: Parasite Reign, a party-based survivor roguelite launching on Steam on July 24, 2026.

Unlike many survivor-style games that focus on strengthening a single character, players manage a team of three magical creatures simultaneously. The game emphasizes party composition, upgrade combinations and character evolution, all presented through a distinctive voxel-inspired visual style.

Mechanis Obscura

Developer Kostas Klimantakis, published by NoBudgetStudios, is bringing Mechanis Obscura, a first-person psychological thriller planned for Steam in the second quarter of 2027.

Set beneath the Greek city of Thessaloniki, the game blends escape-room puzzles, live-action full-motion video sequences and alternate reality game (ARG) elements as players uncover a conspiracy while surviving deadly mechanical challenges.

Unannounced Detective Mystery

Developer Faliro XR is also teasing an unannounced supernatural detective game expected to arrive on PC and consoles during the fourth quarter of 2027.

Built around “true deduction” gameplay, the title challenges players to solve mysteries through observation and logical reasoning in a world where Greek folklore is real. The project remains in active development and has not yet received a public title or gameplay reveal.

Hands-On Demos and Developer Interviews

Gamescom attendees will have opportunities to schedule hands-on demonstrations and interviews with several participating developers throughout the event.

For those unable to attend in Germany, many of the showcased games already offer Steam wishlists, playable demos or additional online information, allowing players around the world to follow development ahead of their respective launches.

Conclusion

With a larger exhibition space and a broader selection of games, Greece is using Gamescom 2026 to demonstrate the continued growth of its independent game development community. From mythology-inspired adventures and strategy roguelikes to psychological thrillers and detective mysteries, the country’s developers are presenting a diverse portfolio aimed at reaching players and industry partners across the global gaming market.
