Belmont’s Curse Takes Players to Paris in 1499
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse takes place in Paris, France, in 1499, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III. The story centers on Rose Belmont as she confronts monsters across the burning streets of Paris and ventures into Dracula’s castle.
As the daughter of Trevor Belmont, Rose continues the Belmont family’s long-running battle against supernatural forces.
Players will be able to use multiple weapons and abilities while exploring the game’s interconnected environments. Among Rose’s weapons is the sacred whip known as “Vampire Killer,” one of the most recognizable weapons associated with the Belmont family throughout the franchise.
Exploration and Gothic Boss Encounters Take Center Stage
The new footage emphasizes the game’s exploration-based structure, with environments ranging from devastated Parisian streets to the ominous interior of Dracula’s castle.
The trailer also previews a variety of nightmarish enemies and large-scale boss encounters. The gothic architecture, supernatural creatures and dark atmosphere maintain visual elements that have defined Castlevania across multiple generations of games.
The project brings together KONAMI with Evil Empire and Motion Twin, studios with experience developing modern 2D action games.
Castlevania Franchise Expands With a New Belmont Story
The decision to center the story on Rose Belmont introduces another generation of the Belmont family while maintaining connections to established characters such as Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, Dracula and Isaac.
Setting the story more than two decades after Castlevania III also allows Belmont’s Curse to build on events familiar to longtime players while establishing its own protagonist and conflict.
For U.S. players and longtime followers of the franchise, the English voice cast announcement provides a clearer picture of how KONAMI and its development partners are approaching the characters in the latest installment.
With McTavish returning as Dracula, O’Brien reprising Isaac and Trott leading the story as Rose Belmont, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse combines familiar voices and characters with a new chapter in the Belmont family saga. The latest trailer further positions exploration, 2D action and elaborate gothic encounters as central elements of the upcoming game.
