Blossom: The Seed of Life has expanded its Mars survival experience with “Together on Mars,” a free update that introduces full four-player online co-op. Released August 31, 2026, the update allows players to complete the entire campaign with friends while retaining the single-player experience.
Together on Mars Brings Full Online Co-Op to Blossom
Solo developer Thorin of Pebbledust Games and publisher Pretty Soon released the major update on Steam, allowing one player to invite up to three friends into the same Martian world.
The update arrives five months after the game’s release, during which more than 35,000 players have explored its combination of survival crafting, terraforming, base construction and planetary exploration.
With “Together on Mars,” groups can now experience the campaign from beginning to end together. Players can explore Mars, gather resources, construct bases, operate vehicles, automate factories, discover new forms of life and gradually transform the barren planet into a functioning ecosystem.
Developer Says Players Have Long Requested Co-Op
Thorin said cooperative multiplayer had been requested by the community since the game’s earliest development updates, although he initially had concerns about how multiplayer could affect its isolated atmosphere.
“Players have been asking for co-op since the very first dev log, but I always worried it would take away from Blossom’s feeling of being alone on a vast, quiet planet. What surprised me is that co-op didn’t take away any of that at all. Mars still feels huge, quiet, and isolated, but now you can experience that together.
“It also creates some really funny situations.
“While testing with my wife, we had a disagreement about how we should run things, and she eventually went off and built her own base of operations on a completely different part of the planet while I continued running mine. Moments like that made me realize that co-op doesn’t just let you survive Mars together; it gives you completely new stories to tell.”
Shared Progression Lets Players Build Mars Together
Co-op progression is shared across several major systems, including terraforming, bases, research, automation and story advancement.
Individual players retain their own backpacks and equipment, however, and can customize the colors of their suits.
Existing save files are also compatible with “Together on Mars.” Players who have already spent hours developing their Martian worlds can load an existing save and open it to friends without restarting the campaign.
Single-player gameplay remains available and unchanged for players who prefer to explore and terraform Mars alone.
Terraforming Remains at the Center of Blossom’s Gameplay
Blossom: The Seed of Life is an open-world survival crafting game centered on restoring life to a dead planet.
Players gradually alter conditions on Mars by increasing atmospheric pressure, creating ice and melting it into water as temperatures rise. Martian dust can eventually be converted into soil, allowing algae, flowers and trees to grow.
As oxygen levels increase, players can establish forests and other biomes before introducing insects, birds and animals to the developing ecosystem.
Exploration, Crafting and Energy Management
Players control Blossom, a small robot designed to operate in environments where humans cannot. Because the protagonist is mechanical, electricity replaces traditional survival-game food systems.
Energy powers movement, equipment, tools and machines, making electricity management an important part of exploration and progression.
Mars can be explored on foot, by rover and through the air. Players can investigate abandoned stations, ancient machinery, wrecked spacecraft and orbital platforms while uncovering clues about Earth and earlier expeditions.
Resources gathered during exploration can be refined into materials for tools, machines and structures. Automation systems include drones, while new blueprints and technology upgrades allow bases to expand alongside the planet’s changing environment.
Modular Rovers Support Planet-Scale Exploration
Vehicles also play a significant role in Blossom. Players can construct modular rovers and equip them with batteries, storage compartments, mining lasers and other functional components.
Multiple vehicles can be connected into convoys, creating mobile bases capable of supporting exploration and resource collection far from established settlements.
The system allows players to create either stationary outposts or traveling operations rather than remaining tied to a single permanent base.
Free Co-Op Update Expands Blossom’s Survival Experience
“Together on Mars” is available as a free update for all owners of Blossom: The Seed of Life on Steam. The game is also being offered at a 30% discount during the Pretty Soon publisher sale through September 6.
By introducing four-player multiplayer without requiring existing players to restart their worlds, the update significantly expands the game’s survival and terraforming systems. Players can now rebuild Mars independently or work alongside friends while sharing the same evolving planetary ecosystem.
