Asgard’s Fall Launches on Steam With Expanded Norse Roguelite Content

Date:

Asgard’s Fall, a Norse mythology-inspired roguelite action game, has officially launched on Steam following its earlier demo and Early Access campaign. The full release introduces additional characters, bosses, abilities and customization features while expanding the game’s progression across nine mythology-inspired realms.

German publisher Assemble Entertainment and developer Soulpotion announced the release on September 9, 2026. The title combines fast-paced “Survivors-like” combat with character progression, build customization and large groups of enemies, placing players in battles inspired by Norse mythology.

Asgard’s Fall Moves Beyond Early Access on Steam

The full Steam launch marks the next stage for Asgard’s Fall after its development period included a public demo and Early Access availability.

At its core, the game challenges players to survive repeated waves of enemies while developing increasingly powerful character builds. Players travel through environments based on Norse mythology, combining abilities and transformations as they prepare for larger encounters.

The full version features four playable characters, each designed around different strengths and approaches to combat. Players can progress through nine realms while encountering 48 different enemy types.

The game also includes 16 boss encounters, providing more difficult battles as players advance through individual runs.

Abilities and Fates Expand Character Builds

Character development is a major component of the gameplay. Asgard’s Fall includes 37 abilities that players can acquire and combine during their journeys.

Those abilities can be further modified through 74 Ability Fates. Each ability has two modifiers capable of changing how it functions, giving players additional options when developing a build for a particular run.

Another 36 general Knots of Fate contribute to progression, while eight Forged Abilities provide further combat options.

The system is intended to encourage experimentation rather than requiring players to follow a single progression path. Different combinations of abilities, modifiers and character-specific strengths can substantially change how a run develops.

Full Release Adds Druid, Hel and New Asgard Bosses

The transition to the full version brings several additions beyond the content previously available during development.

A new playable character, the Druid, joins the roster, expanding the number of available approaches to combat. The release also adds Hel as a boss encounter in Helheim.

Asgard receives additional boss content involving Loki and Odin, increasing the number of major encounters tied directly to recognizable figures from Norse mythology.

Ability Fates are another major addition, allowing players to transform existing powers and unlock different effects. Weapon cosmetics have also been introduced, enabling players to alter the appearance of their character’s weapon without changing the broader progression structure.

New achievements provide additional objectives for players interested in completing all of the game’s challenges.

Warpaint Adds Another Customization Layer

Beyond combat abilities, Asgard’s Fall includes 24 Warpaint effects that allow players to further customize their warriors.

Twenty Warpaint Ascendancy effects expand that system, providing another layer of progression and build development.

Together with abilities, Knots of Fate, Forged Abilities and character selection, the Warpaint system is designed to make individual runs play differently depending on the upgrades and combinations selected.

Assemble Entertainment Expands Its Indie Games Portfolio

The release adds another title to the catalog of Wiesbaden-based Assemble Entertainment, an independent publisher founded by Stefan Marcinek in 2016.

The company has previously published indie games including Roadwarden, Sticky Business, Lacuna and Orbital Bullet. Assemble also operates Gentlymad Studios, the developer behind Pizza Connection 3 and the Endzone franchise.

Since 2022, Assemble has also handled distribution for games from Mixtvision, including FAR: Lone Sails. The publisher additionally organizes GermanDevDays, an annual German-language game development conference held in Frankfurt.

Soulpotion, meanwhile, focuses on independent games built around progression systems, stylized presentation and replayable mechanics. For Asgard’s Fall, the studio has worked with Layer Apps on features including dynamic combat, customization and Twitch integration designed to allow audiences to influence gameplay.

With its Steam launch complete, Asgard’s Fall enters full release with an expanded roster, new boss encounters and a deeper progression system. Its combination of Norse mythology and wave-based roguelite combat positions the title within the increasingly crowded survival-action genre while building on the foundation established during Early Access.
