SNK is bringing FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves to Nintendo Switch 2, expanding the fighting game to Nintendo’s latest console with a digital launch scheduled for October 22, 2026. The new version will be offered in two editions, with a physical Starter Edition following in early 2027.
The Nintendo Switch 2 release will retain the game’s core fighting systems while supporting handheld, tabletop and TV play. SNK is also offering Mai Shiranui’s classic costume as an exclusive preorder bonus for the Switch 2 version.

Digital preorders for FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves are now available through the Nintendo eShop.
U.S. players will have two digital purchasing options. The Standard Edition is priced at $19.99 and includes the base game, while the Starter Edition costs $29.99 and bundles the base game with Season Passes 1 through 3.
A physical version of the Starter Edition is scheduled for January 21, 2027. SNK said preorders will open through participating retailers, while pricing for the physical release has not yet been announced.
Players who preorder the Nintendo Switch 2 version will receive a downloadable classic costume for Mai Shiranui. SNK noted that the costume could eventually be offered separately as paid DLC.
Switch 2 Version Supports Handheld, Tabletop and TV Modes
The Nintendo Switch 2 edition is designed to take advantage of the console’s different play configurations, supporting handheld, tabletop and TV modes.
That flexibility allows players to access the game’s competitive fighting mechanics while traveling or through a more conventional television-based setup.
Smart Style and Arcade Style Offer Two Control Options
City of the Wolves includes two control schemes intended for different experience levels.
Smart Style simplifies special moves and combos through easier button inputs, giving newcomers a more accessible way to enter matches. Arcade Style uses traditional fighting-game inputs and is aimed at experienced players who want greater control and precision.
The game also features the REV System, which adds another strategic element to matches, alongside its distinctive visual presentation and the single-player RPG mode Episodes of South Town.
Online play includes rollback netcode and cross-platform capabilities, features intended to improve competitive matchmaking and reduce connection-related issues during fights.
Starter Edition Includes Three Seasons of Characters
The $29.99 Starter Edition includes a substantial collection of additional fighters through its three Season Passes.
Season Pass 1 includes Andy Bogard, Ken, Joe Higashi, Chun-Li and Mr. Big.
Season Pass 2 adds Kim Jae Hoon, Nightmare Geese, Blue Mary, Wolfgang Krauser, Mr. Karate and Kenshiro.
Season Pass 3 is set to include Rick Strowd, Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Manjiro Sano, Ken Ryuguji and Laocorn, along with an additional character that SNK has not yet revealed.
The roster reflects a mix of established Fatal Fury fighters and crossover characters. Ken and Chun-Li originate from Capcom’s Street Fighter franchise, while Kenshiro comes from Fist of the North Star. Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji are characters from Tokyo Revengers.
Season 3 Will Expand Beyond New Fighters
SNK plans to support Season 3 with more than additional playable characters. The company said the season will introduce new stages and other content as part of its longer-term support for the game.
The approach extends City of the Wolves beyond its initial roster while giving existing players additional environments and matchups over time.
City of the Wolves Continues the Fatal Fury Franchise
FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves represents the latest installment in SNK’s long-running fighting franchise, returning players to South Town with a mix of familiar characters and newcomers.
The game supports one or two players locally and between two and 12 players through network features. It carries an ESRB Teen rating in the United States.
The combination of simplified and traditional controls is intended to accommodate both players discovering the franchise for the first time and longtime fighting-game fans accustomed to technical inputs.
With the Nintendo Switch 2 version, SNK is extending City of the Wolves to another major current-generation platform while offering a lower-cost base-game option and a broader package containing three seasons of additional characters. The digital release arrives October 22, with the physical Starter Edition scheduled to follow in January 2027.
