CRKD Nitro Deck 2 Begins Shipping With Nintendo Switch 2 Support and New Controls

Date:

CRKD has begun global shipments of the Nitro Deck 2, the company’s latest handheld gaming controller designed for Nintendo Switch 2. The $99.99 accessory builds on the original Nitro Deck with upgraded thumbstick technology, revised ergonomics, additional controls and broader device compatibility.

The Nitro Deck 2 also supports the original Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED through an included legacy adapter, while Bluetooth connectivity extends compatibility to PCs, mobile devices and smart TVs.

Nitro Deck 2 Introduces New CaptiStick Technology

One of the biggest hardware changes is CRKD’s new CaptiStick technology. The system uses capacitor-based thumbsticks instead of the Hall-effect sensors featured in the original Nitro Deck.

According to CRKD, the new sticks provide adjustable resistance, electromagnetic interference shielding and ultra-low power consumption intended to help reduce the accessory’s impact on console battery life.

The company is continuing to emphasize resistance to stick drift, one of the key selling points of the original model.

Redesigned Mounting System Supports Switch Generations

CRKD has also changed how Nintendo’s console fits into the controller.

Instead of requiring users to slide the tablet into the accessory, the Nitro Deck 2 expands around the console. A locking dial on the rear of its rubberized backplate then secures the system in place.

The retractable design supports Nintendo Switch 2, while an included adapter provides compatibility with the original Switch and Switch OLED.

Users can also connect through Bluetooth or use the included wired-mode adapter for a lower-latency connection.

Ergonomic Changes Add More Control Options

The Nitro Deck 2 moves the right thumbstick into an offset position intended to provide a more natural grip. CRKD has also reshaped the outer shell with sculpted contours to improve comfort during longer handheld gaming sessions.

Programmable rear buttons return from the original Nitro Deck, joined by new L2 and R2 secondary shoulder buttons that provide additional customization options.

The controller also introduces interchangeable D-pads. Two accessory packs will provide four D-pad styles, including all-black and metallic CRKD designs. Existing CRKD interchangeable stick tops remain compatible.

Digital triggers have been redesigned for a smoother tactile response, while the kickstand is now made from metal for additional stability.

Motion controls and adjustable rumble are supported, along with Deadzone Mode, Turbo Mode and other performance settings.

Nitro Deck 2 Can Work as a Standalone Controller

The hardware is not limited to handheld Switch play. It can operate as a wireless or wired controller for PCs, smartphones, other mobile devices and compatible smart TVs.

When a Switch console is not installed, users can insert the included centerpiece, allowing the Nitro Deck 2 to function as a standalone controller.

Customization is handled through CRKD CTRL, which offers button remapping, calibration tools, rumble adjustments and firmware updates.

The accessory also remains part of CRKD’s True Collection System. Owners can tap a compatible phone to their product to view its rarity ranking, register it and add it to their digital collection.

Four Nitro Deck 2 Color Options Available

The Nitro Deck 2 is launching in four designs: White, Smoke Black, PAL Grey and Fusion Limited Edition.

White and Smoke Black feature metallic CRKD-colored thumbstick bases. PAL Grey draws inspiration from retro 16-bit gaming hardware and is available exclusively through CRKD’s website while supplies last.

The Fusion Limited Edition, created in collaboration with Limited Run Games, combines Glacier Blue and Atomic Purple in a split-color design.

Nitro Deck 2 Priced at $99.99 in the U.S.

The Nitro Deck 2 carries a U.S. retail price of $99.99. A hardshell carrying case is priced at $39.99, while D-pad and stick-top accessory packs cost $19.99.

Each standard package includes the Nitro Deck 2 controller, centerpiece, legacy adapter, wired-mode adapter and charging cable.

With shipments now underway, the Nitro Deck 2 expands CRKD’s original handheld controller concept for the Nintendo Switch 2 generation while retaining support for older Switch hardware and adding standalone controller functionality for other gaming devices.
