NVIDIA RTX Remix 1.6 Brings Path Tracing to Minecraft Java Edition as Phantom Blade Zero Launches With DLSS 4.5

Date:

NVIDIA has released RTX Remix 1.6, introducing path-traced graphics to Minecraft: Java Edition while expanding its collection of AI-powered rendering technologies for PC gaming. The update arrives alongside the October 28 launch of Phantom Blade Zero, which supports DLSS 4.5, ray tracing and path tracing on compatible GeForce RTX hardware.

The company also announced improvements to RTX Spark, Unreal Engine development tools and AI-powered character technologies, reinforcing its focus on advanced graphics and neural rendering.

NVIDIA RTX Remix 1.6 Adds Path Tracing to Minecraft Java Edition

The latest version of NVIDIA RTX Remix expands the company’s game-modding platform, allowing creators to enhance existing titles with modern rendering techniques.

With RTX Remix 1.6, players can now render Minecraft: Java Edition version 1.21.1 using path tracing accelerated by NVIDIA DLSS.

Path tracing simulates the movement of light through a virtual environment, producing more realistic reflections, shadows and indirect lighting.

For Minecraft, the technology changes how familiar block-based environments appear while preserving the game’s core mechanics.

Minecraft RTX Beta Includes New World and High-Resolution Materials

The beta release includes a sample world created by Blockworks, a studio known for its Minecraft environments.

NVIDIA Lightspeed Studios has also developed a resource pack featuring high-resolution materials using physically based rendering (PBR).

These materials are designed to interact more realistically with light, improving the appearance of surfaces throughout the game.

Players can explore the sample world to experience the graphical changes, while modders can use the included resources as a foundation for creating their own path-traced environments.

NVIDIA has published setup instructions and comparison screenshots demonstrating the differences between traditional rendering and the updated lighting system.

Phantom Blade Zero Launches With DLSS 4.5 and Path Tracing

S-GAME’s action RPG Phantom Blade Zero launched on October 28 at 7 p.m. Pacific Time for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The game follows Soul, a swordsman falsely accused of murdering his master.

After suffering a serious heart injury, Soul is left with only 66 days to live. He travels through Wulin while being pursued by enemies and attempting to uncover a conspiracy affecting the martial arts world.

Advanced RTX Lighting Enhances the PC Version

NVIDIA collaborated with S-GAME Studio and S-GAME Publishing to implement PC-exclusive path-tracing enhancements.

The technology builds upon the game’s existing ray-traced effects, providing more detailed lighting and additional visual improvements.

On compatible GeForce RTX desktops, laptops and RTX Spark devices, players can use supported DLSS 4.5 features, including Ray Reconstruction and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.

Ray Reconstruction uses AI-based techniques to improve ray-traced image quality, while Multi Frame Generation creates additional frames to increase displayed smoothness.

NVIDIA says the combined technologies are intended to improve visual fidelity while optimizing rendering performance.

Meanwhile, The Boss Gangster: Criminal Empire is also available with DLSS Super Resolution support.

NVIDIA RTX Spark Expands DLSS and AI Gaming Support

NVIDIA is extending its graphics technologies to RTX Spark, including support for Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation in compatible games.

The company also confirmed plans to support DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering on RTX Spark from its initial availability, beginning with NBA 2K27.

NVIDIA App and Unreal Engine Receive Updates

The latest NVIDIA app beta introduces a faster Frame Generation performance option known as Preset C.

According to the company, the setting prioritizes speed while making relatively minor compromises in image quality.

NVIDIA has also updated its DLSS 4.5 plugin for Unreal Engine, providing developers with tools designed to improve visual sharpness and gameplay smoothness.

Additionally, NVIDIA RTX Branch 5.8, or NvRTX 5.8, is now available for Unreal Engine developers.

The release includes code restructuring, stability improvements and compatibility updates for integrating ray tracing and neural graphics technologies.

Developers can access the source code through GitHub.

NVIDIA ACE Introduces New AI Model for Game Characters

NVIDIA has introduced Nemotron 3.5 Bolt E4B, a third-generation small language model designed for locally operated AI game characters.

Developed through additional training based on Gemma 4 E4B, the model aims to improve interactions between players and AI-controlled characters.

Its capabilities include multi-turn conversations, instruction tracking, interpretation of game states and execution of character actions.

The model is optimized to run locally on compatible GeForce RTX and RTX Spark devices.

MotionBricks and Nsight Tools Support Developers

NVIDIA also announced expanded Nsight developer-tool support for RTX Spark, covering native Arm64, emulated x64 and Arm64EC applications.

Meanwhile, a preview update for MotionBricks introduces new SOMA human movement models alongside the existing G1 robot model.

The open-source research project focuses on real-time character animation using target poses rather than manually constructed animation transitions.

Developers can access downloadable checkpoints, ONNX exports, export utilities and an interactive reference implementation developed with Newton.

NVIDIA Continues Expanding RTX Gaming Technologies

The release of RTX Remix 1.6 and the launch of Phantom Blade Zero highlight NVIDIA’s continuing investment in path tracing, AI-assisted graphics and developer tools.

By bringing advanced lighting to Minecraft: Java Edition and expanding DLSS capabilities across gaming hardware, NVIDIA is making newer rendering technologies available to more games and creators.

Its latest Unreal Engine, AI character and animation updates also demonstrate how the company is extending RTX technologies beyond visual enhancements into broader game development workflows.
