Dutch indie developer Starbrew Games is bringing its cozy space exploration game, Duck Side of the Moon, to PlayStation 5 on November 17, 2026. The console launch will coincide with the release of Homegrown, a free update that introduces gardening, expanded spaceship customization, new characters and additional areas to explore.
The update will be available across all supported platforms, including PC and Nintendo Switch, giving both new and returning players more activities to enjoy in the game’s combat-free universe.
Duck Side of the Moon Expands to PlayStation 5
First released in May 2026, Duck Side of the Moon is currently available through Steam, the Epic Games Store and Nintendo Switch.
The upcoming PS5 release will expand the game’s reach to PlayStation players, offering an open-world adventure centered on exploration, crafting and relaxation.
Players follow Doug, an overworked duck whose spacecraft crashes in an unfamiliar galaxy. As he explores colorful planets and meets unusual inhabitants, Doug gradually discovers the importance of slowing down and finding a place to call home.
Unlike many traditional space adventure games, Duck Side of the Moon features no combat or character death. Instead, gameplay focuses on collecting resources, crafting equipment, completing quests and upgrading Doug’s damaged spaceship.
Free Homegrown Update Adds Gardening and New Adventures
The Homegrown update will launch alongside the PS5 version on November 17, introducing several new gameplay features without additional cost.
Gardening System Lets Players Grow Crops in Space
One of the expansion’s biggest additions is a gardening system that allows players to plant seeds, cultivate crops and harvest their produce.
The feature provides another relaxing activity within the game’s exploration-focused environment.
A new gardening quest will also introduce players to the expanded mechanics, offering additional objectives beyond the original adventure.
Expanded Spaceship Customization Options
Players will gain more control over the appearance of Doug’s spacecraft through new customization features.
By collecting chromas, players can change the appearance of individual furniture pieces and walls, allowing them to create personalized interiors.
The system builds on the game’s existing crafting mechanics and reinforces the idea of transforming a damaged spaceship into a comfortable home.
New Locations and Characters to Discover
Beyond gardening and decoration, Homegrown introduces additional environments, characters and adventures.
The new content becomes accessible approximately halfway through the main story.
Players who have already completed the game can continue using their existing save files rather than restarting their journey.
Starbrew Games Shares Its Vision for Homegrown
According to Starbrew Games, the expansion was developed to introduce ideas the team had been considering since the game’s original release.
Joost Rol, designer at Starbrew Games, explained:
“Ever since launch, we couldn’t wait to expand on the cozy universe we created. We had so many ideas floating around, and Homegrown gives players more to do and more ways to make Doug’s spaceship their own. After all, life among the stars is a lot less stressful with a garden!”
The update expands the game’s creative possibilities while preserving its emphasis on accessible gameplay and low-pressure exploration.
Exploration, Crafting and Relaxation Define the Experience
Duck Side of the Moon combines open-world exploration with crafting systems and lighthearted storytelling.
A Galaxy Filled With Unusual Discoveries
Players can explore colorful planets, mine rare resources, discover hidden locations and interact with the galaxy’s inhabitants.
Among the game’s more unusual characters are talking rocks, which offer conversations and quests throughout Doug’s journey.
Collected materials can be used to craft gadgets and improve the spaceship, allowing players to gradually develop their capabilities.
Character customization also plays a role, with humorous outfits and hats available for Doug.
The game even includes a dedicated quack button, reflecting its playful approach to space exploration.
Beyond its humor, the narrative explores themes of workplace exhaustion, personal well-being and the importance of rest.
Starbrew Games Continues Developing Its Debut Title

The studio’s decision to release Homegrown as a free update gives existing players additional content while introducing new customization and exploration features.
The PlayStation 5 launch also represents another step in expanding the game’s availability beyond its original PC and Nintendo Switch releases.
Duck Side of the Moon PS5 Release Date and Platform Availability
