The applications phase for the gamescom 2022 awards has begun: all gamescom 2022 entertainment exhibitors can submit their games and hardware products until July 27, as explained by those responsible in today’s associated press release Thursday.
The gamescom award is presented in a total of 20 categories. The first winners will be announced on August 23, 2022 at the gamescom grand opening show: Opening Night Live. All other gamescom 2022 award winners will be featured at the gamescom studio awards show.
Newly created “gamescom goes green award”
In cooperation with “Playing for the Planet”, an initiative supported by the United Nations Environment Program, the newly created “gamescom going green award” will be presented for the first time. This honors concepts and measures for more sustainability from exhibitors, especially with regard to their appearance at gamescom. All partners with a stand in the commercial or entertainment area can apply for the award in this category free of charge. The criteria can be found in the gamescom prize rules. In this case, the Playing for the Planet team makes the selection.
The gamescom award jury, made up of experienced game creators and journalists, will view and evaluate the game footage submitted before kick-off. As part of the Consumer Awards, gamescom fans vote for their respective favorites in the “Best Booth” and “Best Trailer/Ad” categories. For a successful submission, the gamescom award submission form must be completed.

Direct submissions are only possible in the genre and platform category groups. The prize office for the gamescom 2022 awards is managed by the Digital Games Culture Foundation.
