Among them there are two Emiratis .. “NASA” chooses 10 new astronauts

The US space agency “NASA” chose 10 new astronauts, including 2 from the Emirates, where the agency presented 6 men and 4 women during a ceremony in Houston.

The agency selected them from more than 12,000 people who applied for the coveted sites.

The ten selected, ranging in age from thirty to forty, face two years of training before being eligible for space flight.

In addition to the fighter pilots, the pioneering candidates were a medical physicist, a drill specialist, a marine robotics expert, a former SpaceX flight surgeon, and a bioengineer who was a cycling champion.

NASA has accepted 360 people into its astronaut corps since the original Mercury Seven in 1959 and the last astronaut selection process was in 2017.

“We are currently in the golden age of manned space flight,” said astronaut Reed Wiseman, commenting on the “SpaceX” company sending astronauts to the International Space Station and NASA’s Artemis program to land on the moon, in addition to launching tourists on special flights.
