Dark Fantasy Action RPG Expands the Anima: Beyond Fantasy Universe

Independent developer Anima Project has confirmed that Anima: Song from the Abyss will launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The upcoming action RPG expands the world of the Anima: Beyond Fantasy franchise, bringing players into a dark fantasy adventure centered on ancient mysteries, supernatural forces, and a forgotten civilization.

Blending traditional tabletop RPG influences with fast-paced hack-and-slash combat, the game features two playable protagonists whose intertwined stories unfold deep within a mysterious realm known as the Abyss.

A Catastrophe Aboard an Imperial Airship

A Mission Gone Wrong

The story begins aboard an imperial zeppelin carrying a powerful relic from a long-lost civilization.

Without warning, most of the crew vanish under unexplained circumstances, leaving Soren, a knight assigned to protect the vessel, as one of the last survivors. As a mysterious force stalks the airship, Soren struggles to safeguard the dangerous artifact and uncover the cause of the disaster.

His efforts ultimately trigger an even greater catastrophe. In a desperate attempt to save the airship, Soren releases a legendary entity imprisoned within the relic, setting in motion events that will change the fate of both characters.

The resulting crash sends the zeppelin plunging into the depths of the Abyss, a dangerous and enigmatic realm filled with secrets.

Two Protagonists, One Ancient Mystery

Unraveling the Truth Behind a Forgotten Song

Following the crash, the freed entity introduces herself as Noein and offers Soren a chance to survive.

In exchange, he must help her uncover the truth behind a mysterious song linked to the disappearance of an ancient civilization and the reason for her centuries-long imprisonment.

The narrative unfolds through the perspectives of both protagonists, allowing players to experience different abilities, viewpoints, and story developments as they explore the Abyss.

The dual-character structure is designed to provide varied gameplay while gradually revealing the larger mystery at the heart of the adventure.
