Attacks on the FritzBox: you can effectively defend yourself against them with your mobile phone

If the FritzBox asks for additional confirmation, you have three options:

• Entering a key combination on a connected phone
• By pressing a button on your FritzBox
• Enter a verification code using the authenticator app

The first two options only work on the home network, the authenticator app also works with remote access. You must set this method to “System” and “FritzBox Users”. Select the default default user and scroll down to the “Application Verification (One Time Password)” section. Click “Set New”.

In the FritzBox interface, specify a name for the smartphone on which the authenticator app is running, and then scan the displayed QR code with it. Click “Next” and write the generated code. If FritzBox gets additional confirmation in the future, you can use the authenticator app’s one-time codes.
