Baito Fight!!: Part-time Devil Hunter, a quirky life-simulation and JRPG hybrid from Osaka-based indie developer KINGOFSHIBUYA Ltd., has launched on PC via Steam. The single-player game combines turn-based battles, baseball-inspired mechanics and everyday responsibilities ranging from meeting neighbors to earning enough money to pay the rent.
Released August 10, 2026, the game follows Anansi, a former baseball player whose daily routine now involves fighting invading devils while navigating friendships, finances and life in his neighborhood. The PC edition is priced at $8.99, while a Playdate handheld version is also available.
Baito Fight Combines Devil Hunting With Baseball
Combat is one of the game’s defining features, combining traditional turn-based JRPG mechanics with baseball-themed attacks.
Players step up to bat against supernatural enemies as Anansi, using baseball-inspired abilities to send devils back to the underworld. The system also incorporates real-time defensive batting mechanics alongside its turn-based structure.
Rather than separating combat completely from the game’s life-simulation elements, defeating enemies provides resources that can help Anansi improve his abilities and manage his daily expenses.
Life Outside Combat Is Just as Important
When Anansi is not fighting devils, players can spend time interacting with neighbors, relaxing at home and handling everyday responsibilities.
Rent is an ongoing concern. Money earned from defeating enemies can be spent on upgrades, but players must balance those purchases against the need to keep the landlord paid.
Time also continuously moves forward. Each in-game day introduces opportunities for new interactions, activities and encounters, giving the adventure a structured sense of progression.
Neighbors Bring Their Own Stories and Goals
The game’s supporting cast consists of neighborhood characters with their own lives, objectives and individual storylines.
Building relationships and learning more about these characters forms an important part of the life-simulation experience. As the days progress, new events and interactions contribute to the game’s broader narrative and eventually lead toward its finale.
The combination creates a rhythm in which players alternate between supernatural battles and quieter moments involving relationships and everyday life.
The Konbini Serves as an Upgrade Hub
Players can use money earned from defeating devils at the local konbini, the Japanese convenience store that serves as an important part of the game’s community.
There, Anansi can purchase new baseball skills and devil-hunting abilities. These upgrades provide additional options for future battles, although spending too freely can create another problem: having enough cash left to cover the rent.
For U.S. players unfamiliar with the term, konbini are ubiquitous convenience stores in Japan and often function as neighborhood hubs for food, payments and everyday necessities.
Bite-Sized Gameplay Draws From Classic Indie RPGs
KINGOFSHIBUYA designed Baito Fight!!: Part-time Devil Hunter around relatively short, pick-up-and-play sessions. Its visual and narrative approach draws inspiration from games including Undertale, EarthBound and Yume Nikki.
The game’s steadily advancing calendar means players cannot simply remain on the same day indefinitely. New opportunities arrive as time passes, encouraging players to make decisions about how Anansi spends his time.
That structure combines with the unusual mixture of baseball, demon hunting, friendship and financial responsibilities to give the title its distinctive identity.
