Cheaper, cheaper jet fuel! NASA technology with big changes | NASA technology | Airplane | Technology News | Technology News | Tech news | Malayalam Tech News

There are a number of complex activities that take place even behind normal air travel. For example, a year after the epidemic started, when flights started flying, many flew abroad to celebrate their holidays. At the same time, fate was to wait longer for others who had booked tickets like them. There are many factors that must be integrated when flying from one airport to another. If any of these problems occur, the flight will not take place. NASA’s Airspace Technology Demonstration 2 or ATD-2 project was an attempt to integrate all of this into a hassle-free environment.

ATD-2 was one of three projects to address aviation challenges. It was something that could predict how transportable the airport would be. It could determine when it was best to take off. All of this also helped avoid waiting. Its main use was to minimize delays in lifting aircraft from the gate to the runway and then to the sky. It has many additional benefits. ATD-2 shows that precise interaction can benefit schedules, passengers, airlines, and even the environment.

The vast majority of people are unaware of the many factors behind the management of an airport. There are many things to be aware of, including aircraft landings, takeoff delays, and changes in weather. All this data must reach the various groups that coordinate airport procedures. Today, many airports rely on single queues. When the plane in front of the tail can take off, wait to use the runway. The queue can change if something unexpected happens. It can affect everything from landing to takeoff and takeoff. Faced with these problems, air traffic managers take short breaks between flights. Actually, this is another incompetence. An attempt has been made to make the flight from the airport more predictable through ATD-2 tools. You can make the best takeoffs.

ATD-2 aims to integrate the different types of data received by the US Federal Aviation Administration and data received from airlines through different systems. Another idea behind this is to reduce congestion at airports. Things that happen in the surrounding airspace must also be considered. The idea behind the ATD-2 is that one is enough to replace the different landing and take-off systems and surface traffic at the airport. ATD-2 was introduced as a multi-stage system. The software for this is called Integrated Arrival / Departure / Surface Traffic Management (IADS).

Instead of planes directly entering and queuing, they create a virtual queue. This is similar to hotel reservations, etc. This allows airplanes to shut down their engines and wait at the gate. This saves fuel. This will create a more efficient and environmentally friendly environment. By integrating the functions of previously independent systems, the ATD-2 AIDS system allows operators to communicate information at the airport without knowing the realities. The ATD-2 tools also include user applications. These can be used to find out which plane will land next. All this will make the whole system more efficient. ATD-2 can also reveal the different factors involved in this. This will allow them to work towards a common goal.

The ATD-2 team first introduced its traffic scheduling technology to users in September 2017. It happened at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina. Representatives from the FAA, airlines and the Air Traffic Controllers Union were able to demonstrate the quality of the ATD-2. Show that waiting can be drastically reduced and that the environmental impact of burning fuel can be reduced.

Starting in May 2021, the AIDS tool could save up to one million gallons of fuel. It is estimated that the amount of carbon dioxide that would have been generated if so much fuel had been burned was something that could only be solved by growing more than 159,000 trees in urban areas. It is better to reduce the running time of jet engines. This will also reduce the cost of repairs. Passengers waited 837 hours. The value of the time gained as a result of this is estimated at $ 4 million. Airlines are said to have saved around $ 1.2 million in the flight crew segment. This is just an airport figure!

You can see the benefits of using ATD-2 at all airports in the United States. The first phase of testing ended in September 2021. NASA has transmitted the results of its research to the FAA and others. Now, the FAA’s TerminalFlight Data Manager program will expand IADS capacity to the 27 major airports in the United States in the coming years.
