Players can now get an early taste of Glintseeker Island, a new indie mining adventure that blends exploration, treasure hunting, and village restoration. Developed by Half Soup Labs and published by Assemble Entertainment, the game’s first public demo became available on Steam on July 16, 2026, giving players a substantial preview ahead of its planned full release in 2027.
A Cozy Mining Adventure Focused on Exploration and Discovery
Set on a forgotten island waiting to be restored, Glintseeker Island centers on exploration beneath the surface. Armed with a trusty hammer, players descend into underground caverns in search of valuable artifacts, gemstones, fossils, and other hidden treasures while uncovering the island’s long-lost secrets.
As players progress, they can upgrade their mining tools and abilities, allowing access to deeper areas filled with increasingly valuable discoveries. Above ground, collected resources can be used to rebuild a once-thriving village and assist its colorful residents through restoration projects and side quests.
The game combines relaxing gameplay with progression systems familiar to fans of mining and crafting adventures, while adding a narrative centered on restoring a forgotten community.
What Players Can Experience in the New Demo
Procedurally Generated Underground Caverns
The Steam demo introduces two procedurally generated cave biomes spread across 15 underground floors, ensuring that each expedition offers new layouts and discoveries.
Players can excavate a wide variety of collectibles, including:
- Rare artifacts
- Fossils
- Gemstones
- Hidden treasures
The demo also allows players to sell their discoveries, providing resources that support village restoration and equipment upgrades.
Village Restoration and Side Activities
Beyond mining, players can participate in eight village restoration projects while completing optional side quests that expand the experience.
A loyal canine companion named Shadow accompanies players throughout the adventure, adding another layer of charm to the island exploration.
The developers have also included a special challenge for completionists: locating the demo-exclusive Soup Fossil, an extremely rare collectible with a reported 0.2% discovery rate.

The demo’s release coincides with the Secret Sauce event on July 16, where Glintseeker Island is being showcased alongside several upcoming independent games. The event highlights promising indie titles expected to arrive over the next year, giving players an early opportunity to discover new releases.
