Hyperkin has announced new additions to its popular SupaBoy Portable Retro Gaming Console lineup, introducing two new color options arriving in Fall 2026. The SupaBoy Crimson and SupaBoy Prime editions will launch alongside the console’s first official release in Europe, expanding access to a device designed for fans of physical game cartridges.
The Los Angeles-based video game hardware company said the updated models will continue supporting original Super Nintendo™ and Super Famicom™ cartridges, allowing players to enjoy classic 16-bit games without downloads, online accounts, or digital replacements.

Original Cartridges Without Emulation or Downloads
The SupaBoy continues to focus on cartridge-based gaming, offering compatibility with original Super Nintendo and Super Famicom PAL, NTSC, and Japanese cartridges. The system allows retro gaming enthusiasts to use their existing collections while avoiding the need for ROM downloads or additional software.
Players can experience classic pixel art, original gameplay mechanics, and stereo sound from the era of 16-bit gaming directly through physical media.
The console also removes region lockout concerns, giving collectors more flexibility when using cartridges from different markets.
From Handheld Play to Living Room Gaming
Built-In Display and TV Connectivity
The SupaBoy features a 4.3-inch IPS screen designed to deliver sharp visuals while playing classic titles on the move. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 10 hours of gameplay on a single charge, making it suitable for extended portable sessions.
For players who prefer a larger screen experience, the console includes AV output support for connecting to a television. Two built-in controller ports also allow users to switch from handheld gaming to multiplayer sessions in a living room setting.
New Crimson and Prime Designs Arrive This Fall
The upcoming SupaBoy color editions are inspired by the classic designs associated with Nintendo’s original hardware era.
The SupaBoy Prime features a color style influenced by the pastel tones of Japanese and European Super Famicom systems, while the limited-edition SupaBoy Crimson draws inspiration from the iconic appearance of the original Japanese Famicom console.
Both models include translucent shells designed to appeal to collectors and retro gaming fans who enjoy displaying their hardware as well as playing it.
Hyperkin said the limited-edition SupaBoy Prime will begin a planned yearly update cycle, with additional exclusive color releases expected in future years.

European Launch Expands SupaBoy Availability
The SupaBoy has been available in the United States for 14 years and has developed a following among retro gaming enthusiasts. With the Fall 2026 release, Hyperkin is bringing the updated Crimson and Prime models to European markets for the first time.
The new consoles will replace the current SupaBoy models already available. The estimated retail price is set at $129.99 in the United States, €129.99 in Europe, and £119.99 in the United Kingdom.
