Konami Digital Entertainment has released Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, bringing several notable entries from the long-running stealth franchise to current gaming platforms. The collection launched worldwide on August 27, 2026, with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker serving as its two main titles.
The new release follows Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 and is available for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam.
Metal Gear Solid 4 Returns on Modern Platforms
One of the collection’s biggest additions is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, originally released for PlayStation 3 in 2008.
The game returns with enhanced visuals and marks its first availability on modern platforms. Players once again follow Solid Snake during his final mission as he confronts longtime enemies and figures from his past.
MGS4 holds an important position in the franchise because it brings together major storylines developed across earlier installments. Its inclusion also gives players who did not own a PlayStation 3 a new opportunity to experience the title on contemporary hardware.
Peace Walker Brings Big Boss Back
The collection also includes the HD Collection version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which focuses on Big Boss and the development of his private military organization during the Cold War.
Alongside the stealth and tactical gameplay associated with the series, Peace Walker incorporates base-building and management systems that became increasingly significant in later Metal Gear games.
Online multiplayer is supported for Peace Walker with up to six players. Konami said cross-platform play is not supported, meaning players will need to use compatible versions on the same platform ecosystem for multiplayer features.
Ghost Babel Included as Bonus Content
Metal Gear: Ghost Babel rounds out the playable lineup as bonus content.
Originally developed as a portable spin-off, Ghost Babel provides another perspective on the franchise’s stealth-focused design. Its inclusion broadens the collection beyond the two headline releases and gives newer players access to another part of the series’ history.
The package is designed to continue the preservation effort established with Master Collection Vol. 1, making older Metal Gear releases accessible on current hardware.

Beyond the three games, Konami has included several digital reference materials covering the franchise’s characters, story and development.

Players who do not want the complete package can purchase Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker separately as standalone digital releases.
Metal Gear Franchise Approaches Four Decades
The original Metal Gear debuted in 1987 and helped establish stealth as a distinct approach to action games. Rather than emphasizing direct combat, the series challenged players to infiltrate hostile areas while avoiding detection.
That concept developed into the franchise’s signature “tactical espionage action” gameplay and influenced numerous stealth and action games that followed.
The franchise has since expanded across multiple generations of consoles, with Solid Snake and Big Boss becoming two of its most recognizable characters.
Konami Expands Access to Classic Metal Gear Games
For U.S. players, the release makes several older Metal Gear experiences available across today’s major console and PC platforms, particularly Metal Gear Solid 4, which had remained closely associated with PlayStation 3 hardware.
With Master Collection Vol. 2, Konami is continuing its effort to make major chapters of the Metal Gear series accessible to both longtime fans and players discovering the franchise for the first time.
