Panic Bomber W Joins Super Bomberman Collection in Free Update

Date:

Konami has expanded Super Bomberman Collection with a free update adding Panic Bomber W, the competitive puzzle game first released in 1995. The update is now available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

The release also adds music from Panic Bomber W to the collection’s BOMB Radio feature, giving longtime Bomberman fans another way to revisit the series’ 1990s soundtrack.

Panic Bomber W Returns With Puzzle-Based Bomberman Gameplay

Originally released in 1995, Panic Bomber W takes a different approach from the traditional maze-based Bomberman formula.

Instead of navigating arenas and placing bombs directly, players compete in a puzzle format built around chain reactions, bomb attacks and the use of a powerful “Big Bomb” mechanic.

The game emphasizes timing and strategic planning, creating a competitive experience that differs from the action-focused gameplay found in the core Bomberman series.

Classic Music Added to BOMB Radio

Alongside the newly added game, the update introduces Panic Bomber W tracks to BOMB Radio.

The feature lets players listen to music from across the collection during gameplay and outside individual game sessions, extending the package’s focus on series preservation and nostalgia.

For players familiar with the original release, the update adds another layer of historical content to a collection already centered on the franchise’s 1990s era.

Super Bomberman Collection Includes Seven Classic Games

Super Bomberman Collection brings together all five main Super Bomberman titles released between 1993 and 1997.

The package also includes the original Bomberman and Bomberman II, while preserving titles that were previously available only in Japan.

The newly added Panic Bomber W broadens the collection by incorporating a different type of Bomberman game rather than another traditional battle title.

Modern Features Include Rewind and Save Anywhere

Konami has added several modern conveniences to make the older games more accessible on current hardware.

Players can use Save/Load Anytime and Rewind functions, reducing some of the difficulty associated with older console design.

The collection also features a Boss Rush mode, BOMB Radio and a Gallery containing approximately 200 character illustrations drawn from across the franchise.

These additions are intended to complement the original games without replacing their core mechanics.

Bomberman Remains a Long-Running Multiplayer Franchise

The Bomberman series has built its reputation around accessible multiplayer competition, with players using bombs to eliminate opponents while navigating maze-like stages.

Its basic mechanics are simple enough for new players to understand quickly, but timing, positioning and map control add strategic depth for more experienced players.

That combination has helped the franchise remain recognizable across multiple console generations.

Panic Bomber W represents one of the series’ notable experiments outside its standard formula, replacing direct arena battles with puzzle mechanics while retaining bombs and competitive play.

Konami Continues to Revisit Legacy Franchises

Konami Digital Entertainment develops and publishes games across mobile, console and card-game markets.

Its major franchises include Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, Contra, eFootball and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game series, alongside Bomberman.

The company has increasingly revisited older properties through remasters, collections and new releases, giving classic titles renewed visibility on modern platforms.

Panic Bomber W Update Is Available Now

The free Panic Bomber W update is available now for Super Bomberman Collection on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

With the addition of the 1995 puzzle game and its soundtrack, the collection now offers an even broader look at Bomberman’s history, combining traditional multiplayer action with one of the franchise’s more distinctive puzzle-based spin-offs.
