Sally Face 2, the sequel to the supernatural adventure game Sally Face, is preparing to bring Sal and his friends back into an increasingly bleak world of psychological horror, challenging puzzles and disturbing revelations. Pittsburgh-based independent developer Portable Moose has revealed new details about the sequel, which is planned for Steam Early Access on PC, with console and mobile versions expected later.
The new entry continues the story after the haunting conclusion of the original game, expanding its narrative-driven formula while retaining the distinctive visual influences that helped establish the series.
Sally Face 2 Continues Sal’s Story in a Darker World
Sally Face 2 is a single-player, side-scrolling adventure centered on Sal and his three friends as they attempt to survive a post-apocalyptic world where danger is persistent and even death offers little relief.
The sequel explores themes of lost hope, survival and encroaching darkness while asking what remains worth holding onto when the characters’ world continues to collapse around them.
Players will guide the group through environments filled with supernatural threats, mysteries and narrative twists. The developers say revelations throughout the story will continue to reshape what players understand about the characters and their surroundings.
Narrative Horror Meets Complex Puzzle Solving
Puzzle-solving remains an important part of the experience. Players will encounter cryptic brain teasers and more elaborate challenges that must be completed to uncover additional pieces of the game’s story and mysteries.
Portable Moose is also adding a hint system for players who want a more forgiving experience. The feature is intended to make progression more accessible without removing the puzzle-focused structure of the adventure.
The combination of exploration, storytelling and problem-solving builds on the framework established by the original Sally Face while aiming for a more ambitious sequel.
1990s Cartoons and Nightmares Shape the Visual Direction
One of the defining characteristics of the series is its unusual combination of disturbing horror imagery and influences drawn from 1990s cartoons.
Sally Face 2 continues that approach across its characters, enemies and environments. The contrasting influences are designed to create a world that can appear familiar and unsettling at the same time.
The studio also emphasized that the game’s creative assets are handcrafted by its development team. According to Portable Moose, Sally Face 2 contains no AI-generated content.
Portable Moose Says Sequel Is More Ambitious
“The community’s anticipation for Sally Face 2 has been inspiring, and we are excited to finally share a look at what we’ve been building,” said Portable Moose Founder Steve Gabry. “ Sally Face 2 is much more ambitious than the original, pushing the boundaries on art and tech beyond what was possible with the first game. The teaser is only a small taste of what’s to come.”
That expanded scope comes as Portable Moose has grown beyond its origins as a solo-led independent development operation.
Gabry established the Pittsburgh studio in 2015. By 2025, Portable Moose had expanded into a four-person team focused primarily on narrative-driven games.
Sally Face 2 Heading to Steam Early Access
Sally Face 2 is scheduled to launch first on PC through Steam Early Access. Portable Moose has not announced a specific Early Access release date.
Console and mobile ports are also planned for a later date, though platforms and release windows have not yet been detailed.
Using Steam Early Access will allow the PC version to reach players before the broader multiplatform rollout while development continues.
Sequel Builds on the Original Sally Face
The original Sally Face developed an audience through its combination of supernatural mysteries, unconventional characters and increasingly disturbing storytelling. Its sequel is positioned as a direct continuation rather than a standalone reinvention.
Portable Moose is expanding that formula with a post-apocalyptic setting, more ambitious technology and artwork, puzzle-focused gameplay and a darker narrative centered on Sal and his surviving friends.
With Sally Face 2 headed to Steam Early Access and console and mobile versions planned afterward, the sequel is set to extend the series’ distinctive combination of psychological horror, mystery and narrative adventure into a considerably larger project.
