According to numerous users in South Korean forums, as of today they have received an update for their current Samsung smartphones, which includes a new version of the game booster, among other things. Game mode is activated every time you play a game to provide a personalized user experience.
Samsung will leave the decision about the accelerator to the user in the future
As announced by Samsung, the new version actually contains a new switch with which the Game Optimization Service (GOS) can be disabled if desired. This means that the throttle can be turned off, which has been highly criticized for about a week because Samsung no longer gave the user hands-free in this way in several model generations of its high-end smartphones in terms of performance of your expensive premium device.
With the update, Samsung is apparently introducing new protection measures to automatically reduce CPU and GPU performance if the heat builds up too much. In this way, the user is supposed to get maximum performance when the GOS is off, but at the same time it is supposed to prevent the smartphone from overheating if the temperature exceeds a certain level during long gaming sessions.
The new update is still being delivered only in South Korea, so it is not yet clear when the distribution will also start in Germany and other countries. Furthermore, the distribution is apparently initially limited to Galaxy S22 series smartphones, that is, the latest flagship models that have only been available in stores for a few weeks. The GOS is also on board the Galaxy S21 and the latest Galaxy Note models. It remains to be seen when these devices will be updated.
