A new controller for PlayStation 5, the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, was unveiled at Opening Night Live and offers both hardware and software-based customization options to fully personalize the gaming experience. Sony introduces the new piece of hardware in more detail in a current press release.

Adjustments are possible, among other things, on controls such as key inputs, sticks, and triggers. As soon as players have found the optimal settings for themselves or individual games, they can be saved in control element profiles. There’s also a controller-specific UI and swappable stick caps and back buttons.

The stick modules can also be changed, explains Sony. With all the innovations, the well-known features of the DualSense wireless controller are maintained, such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, integrated microphone or motion control.

Daisuke Kurihara, the art director who led the development process for the controller, said of the development:

“We wanted (…) to create a controller that would allow gamers to experiment and customize elements based on their own unique play style, whether they are professional gamers or would just like more options to customize the gaming experience.”
