Ravens led the Steelers in half-time 17-7 with the strength of defense and running games. The Baltimore Lamar Jackson, Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins trio ran 178 yards in the first half, while the Ravens defense kept Pittsburgh down to a total of 64 yards.
In the third play of the game, TJ Watt pressured Lamar Jackson threw an intercept and linebacker Robert Spillane returned a score of 33 yards. Jackson quickly redeemed his early mistakes when connecting with Miles Boykin for a 6-yard touchdown pass in Baltimore’s next property. Ravens began the second quarter with a 9-play, 80-yard drive that ended with Edwards’ 1-yard touchdown run. Baltimore then combined 15 plays and a 60-yard drive, setting Justin Tucker’s 51-yard field goal as the final play of the half. Ravens lost three starters in the first half. After aggressive linemen Ronnie Stanley and Tylie Phillips were injured and defensive end Matt Judon was sent off for contact with officials.
