dusseldorf German gas storage facilities are better full than previously assumed. “If the current strong consumer savings continue, Germany will get through the winter well,” Sebastian Bleschke, managing director of storage association Ines, said on Friday.
Just a few weeks ago, the association had assumed a higher consumption in its forecasts. The fact that less gas is now used is not due to the milder temperatures, Bleschke said. Consumption is actually lower than usual under comparable weather conditions.
Despite the recent low temperatures, the storage level remains at 95 percent. At the end of November, the figure was 98 percent. That is two percentage points more than Inés expected. The association derives even more optimistic scenarios for this winter from current observations.
