‘The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem’ Brings Multiplayer Chaos to Consoles and PC This October

Date:

Family-Friendly Party Game Inspired by Dr. Seuss Classic Launches Across Major Platforms

Fans of Dr. Seuss will soon be able to step into the unpredictable world of The Cat in the Hat in a new multiplayer party game set to launch this fall.

Video game publisher Outright Games, in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, announced The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem, a family-focused party game based on the iconic children’s book first published in 1957.

The game is scheduled for release on Oct. 30, 2026, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Developed by UK-based studio Casual Brothers, the title transforms the familiar setting of the original book into a fast-paced multiplayer experience centered on mini-games, cooperative play and lighthearted competition.

Classic Dr. Seuss Characters Head Into Interactive Gameplay

Players will be able to control characters including Sally, Johnny, Thing 1, Thing 2 and Little Cat A, while the Cat in the Hat and the Fish guide the action throughout the game.

Designed for solo play or local multiplayer with up to four players, Rainy Day Mayhem aims to recreate the playful chaos that made the original Dr. Seuss story a staple in American children’s literature for generations.

The game features two primary modes. In “Find the Cat,” players race through the house searching for the elusive Cat in the Hat in a high-energy hide-and-seek challenge. A second mode includes 18 mini-games ranging from chasing runaway penguins to decorating oversized cakes.

According to the publisher, the game emphasizes accessibility with simple controls, adjustable difficulty settings and both short and extended gameplay sessions intended to appeal to younger children as well as adults playing with family members.

That approach reflects the growing popularity of family-oriented multiplayer games, particularly on Nintendo Switch and other living room-friendly platforms where cooperative party titles continue to perform well with parents and younger audiences.

Outright Games Expands Its Family Entertainment Portfolio

Outright Games has built its reputation around licensed family entertainment properties, adapting well-known franchises into accessible console and PC experiences.

The publisher’s previous releases include titles based on Peppa Pig, PAW Patrol, Justice League, Star Trek: Prodigy and DreamWorks Dragons. The company has increasingly targeted households looking for age-appropriate multiplayer games that can be played together locally.

Robin Flodin, CEO of Outright Games Group, said the studio wanted to capture the original book’s playful spirit in an interactive format.

“We’re excited to bring the wonderfully chaotic world of The Cat in the Hat to players in a completely new way,” Flodin said. “Rainy Day Mayhem captures the spirit of fun, mischief and imagination that has made this story a classic for generations, and we can’t wait for kids and families to jump in and experience it together! It’s a game designed for laughter and unforgettable moments shared with family and friends.”

Dr. Seuss Brand Continues Expanding Into Interactive Media

The release marks another major expansion of the Dr. Seuss brand into interactive entertainment, as publishers and entertainment companies continue adapting legacy children’s properties for modern gaming audiences.

First introduced nearly 70 years ago, The Cat in the Hat remains one of the most recognizable children’s books in the United States, known for its rhyming storytelling, memorable characters and mischievous humor.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises, founded in 1993, oversees the author’s literary and entertainment properties globally. The organization also supports charitable initiatives focused on education, science, health and the arts.

Meanwhile, developer Casual Brothers brings more than a decade of game development experience across PC, console and mobile platforms.
