New Delhi : Originally a Chinese mobile device manufacturing company Xiaomi India In India Produces a large number of mobiles. Many people have phones with this company known as MI. The most widely used phones from this company are popular throughout India. But the company is now in trouble and the central government has sent it a Rs 663 million tax evasion notice. The company has been accused of violating trade agreements by importing mobile phones from China to India. The move is seen as important in light of recent tensions between China and India.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) of India has launched an investigation against Xiaomi India and its contractors on the basis of confidential information that the mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi Technology India Pvt. During the investigation, several documents were seized which revealed that Xiaomi India was sending license fees to Qualcomm USA and Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Company under a deal, prompting a new notice. Following the completion of the investigation by the Revenue Intelligence Directorate, in accordance with the provisions of the Customs Law of 1962, three notices of demonstrative cause were issued to Messrs. Xiaomi Technology India Pvt.
