MeWe admitted 2.5 million new members last week, a record number during its run. So far, the platform has 15.5 million members, of which 50% of the members are from countries outside of North America. MeWe has been translated into 20 languages and is currently the leading social media app in Hong Kong.

The company says its membership grows regularly as users increasingly search for social networks that respect customers. Founder Mark Weinstein initially envisioned MeWe as an app that allows users to chat and share information, but when Weinstein moved to California, he decided to turn MeWe into a platform against Facebook.
