Twisted Tower Launches on Steam With 1950s Theme Park Horror and FPS Combat

Date:

Twisted Tower, a first-person action-adventure game set inside a nightmarish abandoned theme park, is now available on PC through Steam. Published under Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label and developed by Thomas Brush of Atmos Games, the title combines horror, exploration, puzzles and fast-paced combat within a setting inspired by 1950s American entertainment culture.

Twisted Tower Opens Its Abandoned Theme Park on PC

Released Aug. 18, 2026, Twisted Tower sends players into a decaying resort where once-friendly attractions and mascots have been transformed into dangerous obstacles.

The game is structured around an ascent through five distinct levels of the tower, with the environment becoming increasingly dangerous as players move upward.

Those locations include a hotel, water park, clown casino, carnival forest and space station. Along the way, players can encounter familiar amusement park attractions such as a merry-go-round and carnival food stands, though the game’s horror setting gives them a darker purpose.

The developers cite BioShock and Disney World among the inspirations for the game’s abandoned 1950s resort setting.

Toy-Inspired Weapons Drive Twisted Tower’s Combat

Combat centers on an unconventional arsenal built around toys, carnival games and exaggerated amusement park concepts.

Weapons Range From Mallets to Bubblegum Chain-Guns

Players can begin by fighting enemies with a whack-a-mole-style mallet before gaining access to more unusual ranged weapons.

The arsenal includes a rubber-band pistol, dart-firing Tommy Gun, shotgun with a comedic gas-themed design, bubblegum-firing chain-gun, sniper slingshot and ray gun.

Weapons can be upgraded as players progress through the tower, providing additional options for dealing with corrupted fairy-tale mascots and other hostile inhabitants.

Despite the playful weapon designs, combat features a deliberately violent style that contrasts with the colorful theme park setting.

Five Levels Mix Exploration, Combat and Puzzles

Twisted Tower combines its shooting mechanics with environmental exploration and puzzles.

Players can collect unusual toys that provide traversal abilities, including tools for jumping, dashing and grappling. Those abilities are used to navigate the tower and reach new areas as the journey progresses.

The game also offers multiple possible paths during individual playthroughs. According to the developers, the branching routes are intended to make repeat runs through the tower feel different rather than forcing players through exactly the same sequence every time.

Each floor introduces its own visual identity and attractions while contributing to the larger mystery behind the abandoned resort.

Story Explores Memories Behind the Theme Park

Beneath its carnival-inspired weapons and horror imagery, Twisted Tower also features a narrative focused on the memories and secrets associated with the location.

The tower’s deteriorated attractions and corrupted characters form part of a broader emotional story that players uncover while climbing through its five levels.

The combination of a nostalgic mid-century setting with disturbing environments allows the game to contrast familiar amusement park imagery with darker themes.

Twisted Tower Launches at $14.99 on Steam

Twisted Tower is available now for PC through Steam with a regular U.S. price of $14.99.

Players who purchase the game before Sept. 1 can receive a 10% launch discount.

The title is published by 3D Realms, part of Saber Interactive, whose broader portfolio includes franchises and games such as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, World War Z, SnowRunner and Turok: Origins.

Atmos Games is an independent studio led by Thomas Brush, whose previous releases include Pinstripe and Neversong. Brush has worked in game development for more than 15 years, with the studio focusing primarily on atmospheric, story-driven projects.

With its Steam release, Twisted Tower brings together first-person shooting, horror, puzzle-solving and theme park nostalgia in a single adventure. Its unusual toy-based arsenal and five increasingly dangerous environments provide the foundation for a darker interpretation of the classic American amusement park experience.
