Ubisoft Connect’s new cross-progression allows you to carry save data across all platforms • TECH GAMING REPORT

Date:

Last month, Ubisoft announced that it would integrate its long-standing Uplay and Ubisoft Club services into one free uber service called Ubisoft Connect. With the advent of Assassin’s Creed Valhara, the service (with flagship cross-play and cross-progression features) is in full swing, and cross-progression isn’t limited, even if it’s not clear given Ubisoft’s previous ambiguity. Hmm. It’s a single console family, but it works on all platforms, but be careful.

Of course, cross-progression across a single platform ecosystem isn’t new-something like Fortnite or Minecraft has provided this feature for quite some time-but it usually has important multiplayer elements. Limited to games. As a result, Ubisoft’s implementation is a bit unusual in that it allows players to resume saves elsewhere for a vast single-player-focused service such as Assassin’s Creed Valhara.

However, there are certain restrictions on what you can and cannot do in a cross-platform adventure. Ubisoft explains this in more detail. With the newly released FAQ.. In short, you can make progress from your Xbox to your PlayStation or from your PlayStation to your PC (or any other permutation of platform hops), but paid content purchased on one system will most likely go to another system outside the same console family. Does not continue.

Purchased add-ons, such as the Valhalla Season Pass, can be accessed between consoles within the same family (if you have cross-generational entitlements), but must be repurchased on other platforms. Therefore, items that depend on the Season Pass will be removed from your inventory when you play an existing save on another platform, but will be restored when you return to the original purchase platform.

Similarly, Valhalla’s premium currency, Helix Credits, can only be used on the same platform on which it was purchased (including platforms in the same console family). However, cosmetic items purchased using Helix Credits are accessible on all platforms. This also applies to all currencies in the game and items acquired during play.

In that case, it’s not completely seamless, but the ability to resume saving on a supported platform, especially as Ubisoft has, is definitely welcome, even with warnings. Verified This feature could become the standard for the latest releases such as Hyper Scape, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Riders Republic. Hopefully it won’t be long before other publishers follow suit.
