The Aorus FV43U actually offers everything you need for both PC and console gaming: 4K / UHD resolution at 144Hz with full 10-bit color depth, which is possible via HDMI 2.1 or via a Displayport connection. This makes it ideal for next-gen consoles, namely PS 5 and Xbox Series X / S. Although the panel is the size of a television, it is by definition a monitor and not a television. Because here it lacks a DVB tuner. Also, the TVs do not have a Displayport connection, which in version 1.4 still provides a higher bandwidth than HDMI 2.0. The HDMI 2.1 available here outperforms Displayport in terms of bandwidth, so it also delivers a 4K120 signal.
Is the Gigabyte Aorus FV43U still a gaming monitor or, given the 43-inch diagonal, is it no longer a TV? First of all: Combine the best of both worlds, as we will see in the test here.
The datasheet declares the following properties. In its diagonal of more than 43 inches, the panel has a resolution of 4K / UHD, that is, 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. It also offers a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz, which is also dynamic thanks to Freesync and G-Sync. The monitor has a Displayport 1.4 input and two HDMI 2.1 as video inputs. It does not have a TV tuner, so it is a monitor by definition. Also, as a gaming monitor, it has all the features you would expect from such a monitor. As is typical for Aorus, the OSD is equipped with everything, such as a timer, a cross or a Hz display.
Like a television, the large monitor rests on two feet, not a central one, as is common with smaller monitors. Consequently, it is neither height-adjustable nor tiltable.
