Caution! Scammers send new phishing email from Telekom

Date:

Apparently the scammers are sending emails on behalf of Telekom again. Supposedly customers have to confirm their data. In fact, it is personal information.

Internet scammers are again sending fake emails on behalf of Telekom in an attempt to get hold of user data. The email, which is currently reaching many inboxes, claims that there was a suspicious attempt to access the victim’s email address.

The text of the email indicates that the access attempt triggered Telekom’s security system. That’s why they now go to the recipient of the mail and ask him to “confirm his data”: “Click here”, he says.

What exactly is meant by “data” is not explained in the message, nor what exactly is it supposed to confirm. Under no circumstances should recipients click on this link. Because the sender is not Telekom, even if the format of the email makes it look authentic at first glance.

Criminals often want to steal personal data

Instead, criminals try to obtain names, addresses, phone numbers, and other data in this way, which they then use for fraud.

The reason given in these emails for an alleged data comparison often varies; In the end, however, this type of email is always about capturing user data.
