Frostrail, developed by FakeFish, the studio behind the submarine survival game Barotrauma, is a first-person survival shooter built around cooperative gameplay and resource management. A newly released gameplay trailer highlights the game’s core loop: players travel across a frozen wasteland aboard a steam-powered train, either solo or with friends in online co-op.
The train serves as both transportation and a mobile base of operations. Players must venture into underground dungeons and abandoned settlements to scavenge supplies needed to craft improvised weapons and expand their train with additional carriages. Surviving the brutal climate—marked by sub-zero temperatures and blinding snowstorms—is as much a challenge as fighting enemies.
Combat Against the Revenants
The game’s main threats come from supernatural creatures known as Revenants, which are drawn to the rumble of the train moving across the icy landscape. Encounters with these enemies form the heart of Frostrail’s combat system.
Players must engage in intense first-person firefights to defeat these creatures and secure rare crafting materials. The rewards allow survivors to strengthen their train and prepare for deeper expeditions into the frozen world.
Frostrail is scheduled to launch later in 2026 on PC through Steam.
SpaceCraft: A Multiplayer Universe Built for Exploration and Trade
