PUBG MOBILE’s latest major update is bringing a mythology-inspired twist to the battle royale game, introducing new gameplay modes, social features and map upgrades as competition among mobile shooters continues to intensify worldwide.
The Version 4.4 update, available through July 7, adds a new “Hero’s Crown” themed mode inspired by ancient Greek legends, along with gameplay changes across Classic Mode, Metro Royale, World of Wonder and Home Mode.
Hero’s Crown Mode Introduces Greek Mythology to PUBG MOBILE
The centerpiece of the Version 4.4 update is Hero’s Crown, a limited-time mode that transforms several popular maps with ancient Greek-inspired environments and combat challenges.
Available on Erangel, Livik and Rondo, the mode redesigns locations including Yasnaya Polyana, Ruins, Ferry Pier and Mylta with mythological architecture, themed arenas and special event zones.
At the center of the mode is the Crown’s Abode, a floating island suspended above the battlefield where teams compete for rewards and face off against Helios, a powerful centaur boss.
New Trials and Gameplay Challenges
Players can complete themed trials throughout each match to build “Glory,” a shared progression mechanic tied to rewards and abilities.
Several new challenges are included:
- Achilles’ Trial focuses on speed-based dash gameplay
- Spartan’s Trial tasks squads with surviving enemy waves
- Prometheus’ Trial revolves around igniting the Sacred Fire
- Icarus’ Trial introduces aerial obstacle courses
Additional Gryphon Trials scattered across the map include soccer-style mini-games that reward supplies and Glory points.
The update also introduces mythological combat abilities and gear designed to increase mobility and team coordination.
New Weapons, Powers and Movement Abilities
Among the new themed items is the Heart of Fury, which grants players a forward dash and temporary combat boosts.
The Battle Flag creates a support area that strengthens nearby teammates, while Wax Wings allow players to glide through the air and quickly traverse the battlefield — mechanics that reflect the growing trend of movement-focused gameplay in competitive shooters.
Players can also unlock and use the Laurel-M1 Garand, a special weapon featuring evolving visual effects connected to Glory progression.
Teams that defeat Helios inside Crown’s Abode can temporarily recruit the centaur warrior as an ally, gaining access to ranged attacks, healing skills and charging abilities.
Classic Mode Expands With New Roadster Vehicle
Outside the themed mode, PUBG MOBILE’s Classic Mode is also receiving several gameplay updates.
The new Roadster vehicle, a two-seat convertible equipped with a turbo boost system, is now available across multiple maps including Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok, Livik, Nusa and Rondo.
The Panzerfaust launcher is expanding to additional maps and has received gameplay adjustments, while the JS9 weapon now appears more frequently across the game.
Combat and Weapon Balance Updates
Version 4.4 also includes firearm balancing for sniper rifles, assault rifles and shotguns, alongside smoother semi-automatic firing controls and additional gameplay refinements.
Livik players will also notice a redesigned Spawn Island, giving squads a larger pre-match area to gather and interact before matches begin.
Flash Crew System Focuses on Team Play
The update introduces Flash Crew, a new social matchmaking system aimed at helping players find compatible teammates and build long-term squads.
Players can improve Rapport with teammates, unlock rewards together and access upgraded communication tools intended to streamline team coordination.
The feature reflects the increasing emphasis on community-building systems in multiplayer games, especially in mobile titles where long-term player retention remains critical.
World of Wonder and Metro Royale Receive Major Upgrades
PUBG MOBILE’s World of Wonder creative mode is also expanding with a standalone WOW Lobby, making it easier for players to discover custom maps and join matches.
A new join mid-match feature now allows players to enter ongoing games instead of waiting for new rounds to begin.
For creators, Tencent and KRAFTON reduced download sizes for the renamed WOW Rookie Starter Pack and improved editing tool performance.
Meanwhile, Metro Royale Chapter 32 introduces new collectibles and a PvE encounter featuring Helios, while Season 30 adds Ranked Arena updates, new rewards and Weekend Joy events.
The fan-favorite Dinoground themed mode is also scheduled to return during the Version 4.4 cycle.
Home Mode Adds New Social Features
Home Mode is receiving additional customization content, including the new Starfall Sanctuary Home Style and a Parking Lot gameplay season.
Players can participate in Home Competitions, host Crew Celebration events and unlock themed decorations and interactive rewards.
PUBG MOBILE Continues Expanding Its Global Reach
Originally based on PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, PUBG MOBILE remains one of the world’s most-played mobile games, competing alongside titles such as Call of Duty: Mobile and Free Fire in the highly competitive mobile shooter market.
With Version 4.4, the game continues leaning into large-scale seasonal events, social systems and crossover-inspired gameplay designed to keep players engaged across both casual and competitive audiences.
