Limited Run Games and Cyan Worlds are bringing the modern remakes of two landmark puzzle adventures, Myst and Riven, back to physical media later this year. Both games will receive Standard and Big Box editions, with pre-orders scheduled to open September 18, 2026.
Myst Returns With New Physical Editions
Originally released in 1993, Myst became one of the defining puzzle adventure games of its era. The game transports players to Myst Island, an isolated location filled with unusual structures, environmental puzzles and clues to a larger mystery.
Players travel between Myst Island and other worlds known as “Ages,” gradually uncovering the story behind the places they explore. Each solved puzzle reveals additional pieces of the narrative and gives players a greater role in determining how events unfold.
More than six million players have experienced Myst since its original release, according to the announcement. Its modern remake updates the classic adventure for contemporary hardware while preserving the exploration and puzzle-solving at the center of the original.
Myst Standard and Big Box Edition Details
The Myst Standard Edition will cost $39.99 in the United States and will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox One/Xbox Series X.
The package includes the game case, game disc and an eight-page booklet.
A Myst Big Box Edition will be priced at $64.99 and offered for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox One/Xbox Series X.
The Big Box version includes PC-style oversized packaging, the Standard Edition of the game, a soundtrack CD and a double-sided 12-by-16-inch poster.
For PC buyers, the package contains a digital Steam key instead of a physical game disc.
Riven Remake Also Heads to Physical Media
Riven, the sequel to Myst, is receiving a similar physical release.
The adventure takes players into a visually striking world approaching collapse. Exploration spans dense jungles, vast caverns and massive structures as players investigate the environment, solve interconnected puzzles and attempt a rescue.
At the center of the story is a world shaped by a man who views himself as a god. Environmental details and puzzles gradually reveal more about Riven, its inhabitants and the forces responsible for its condition.
The modern remake updates the original game’s presentation while retaining the puzzle-driven exploration and storytelling that helped establish Riven as a major entry in the adventure genre.
Riven Standard and Big Box Edition Pricing
The Riven Standard Edition will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at a suggested retail price of $39.99 in the United States.
It includes a game case, physical disc and eight-page booklet.
The Riven Big Box Edition will cost $64.99 and will be offered for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
As with the equivalent Myst package, buyers receive Big Box PC-style packaging, the Standard Edition, a soundtrack CD and a double-sided 12-by-16-inch poster.
The PC edition includes a Steam download key rather than a game disc.
Myst and Riven Pre-Orders Open September 18
Limited Run Games will begin accepting pre-orders for the physical editions of both Myst and Riven on September 18, 2026.
The ordering period will remain open for one month, closing October 18, 2026.
