KONAMI and 2000 AD Announce Official Silent Hill: Townfall Comic Prequel

Date:

KONAMI is expanding the world of SILENT HILL: Townfall beyond video games through a collaboration with British comic publisher 2000 AD. The companies have announced SILENT HILL: Townfall – The Dock House, an official prequel story tied to the upcoming psychological horror game.

Written by SILENT HILL: Townfall lead writer and game director Jon McKellan and illustrated by artist David Roach, the comic explores another corner of St. Amelia, the remote Scottish island at the center of the game’s story.

The Dock House Explores the Dark History of St. Amelia

The Dock House follows Douglas, a veteran harbor master who has spent decades maintaining St. Amelia’s dock house.

Surrounded by fog and isolation, Douglas has settled into an endless routine until he discovers an impossible staircase descending beneath the harbor. The discovery forces him to confront a terrifying reality hidden beneath the town.

The story is designed to expand the atmosphere and history of SILENT HILL: Townfall while preserving the central mysteries players will encounter in the game.

For U.S. readers, the comic will be included in 2000 AD’s milestone Prog 2500 and distributed in print through Lunar Distribution beginning September 30. It will also be available digitally worldwide through the 2000 AD Webstore and app.

2000 AD Brings British Horror Roots to Silent Hill

The collaboration connects the psychological horror franchise with one of Britain’s best-known comic publishers. 2000 AD has spent decades publishing science-fiction, fantasy and horror stories and is particularly known as the home of Judge Dredd.

2000 AD Editor-in-Chief Matt Smith said: “The atmospheric horrors of SILENT HILL are a great fit for 2000 AD, so when we were approached to publish a special tie-in story for SILENT HILL: Townfall, it was something I knew the readers would thoroughly enjoy immersing themselves in – and with David Roach on art duties, it’s an especially moody, eerie piece that works as a standalone chiller”.

McKellan described the project as both an expansion of the game’s world and a personal milestone.

“It’s incredibly exciting to expand the world of SILENT HILL: Townfall with a new short story, and a personal milestone for me as a writer to get a chance to contribute to an issue!. It feels especially fitting for a game set in the UK to feature in a UK national treasure like 2000 AD, and watching David bring the words to life has been a joy. I’m excited for readers to experience a slice of the world we’ve built, and discover its connection to the game.”

Silent Hill: Townfall Heads to PS5 and PC

The comic arrives shortly before SILENT HILL: Townfall makes its video game debut. The title is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Steam and the Epic Games Store on September 24.

Developed by Glasgow-based Screen Burn, formerly known as No Code, Townfall continues the broader Silent Hill franchise’s focus on psychological horror, unsettling environments and narrative-driven experiences.

Screen Burn previously developed Stories Untold and the BAFTA-winning Observation. Annapurna Interactive is also involved with the upcoming game.

Silent Hill Franchise Continues Its Expansion

KONAMI first introduced Silent Hill in 1999. The franchise has since expanded through multiple mainline games, spin-offs, movies and other media, becoming one of the most recognizable names in psychological horror.

The Dock House adds another storytelling format to that history while giving fans additional context about St. Amelia before experiencing the game’s central narrative.

For 2000 AD, the collaboration also brings a major international video game property into its landmark Prog 2500 issue. The weekly anthology has published work from prominent comic creators including Alan Moore, Garth Ennis, John Wagner, Jock and Al Ewing.

With the comic arriving in the U.S. shortly after the game’s launch, SILENT HILL: Townfall – The Dock House will offer fans a separate but connected journey into St. Amelia’s fog-covered world and the horrors hidden beneath its surface.
