Indonesian game developer Agate and Abu Dhabi-based publisher Red Dunes Games are bringing Blades of Mirage, a Southeast Asian-inspired action RPG, to Tokyo Game Show 2026, giving attendees an opportunity to experience its combination of fast-paced combat, exploration, puzzles, and light role-playing mechanics.
The upcoming title will be playable in Hall 7 at Booth N03 during the Tokyo event, where it will appear alongside other games from participating development teams.
Blades of Mirage Introduces Players to the Brightlands
Blades of Mirage follows Mira, a young hero who ventures beyond her village and into the ancient realm known as the Brightlands.
Her journey centers on confronting corrupted guardians, uncovering mysteries tied to her past, and solving environmental puzzles while exploring the threatened world. The developers describe the game as a handcrafted adventure combining action-oriented combat with puzzle-focused exploration and accessible RPG elements.
At the center of the story are six guardians who once protected the world but have begun abandoning their responsibilities, leaving Mira to discover what has happened and prevent the realm’s destruction.
Boss Battles Reward Timing and Strategy
Combat is designed around demanding encounters in which players must study enemy behavior and adapt their tactics.
Boss fights pit Mira against mythical figures guarding sacred relics. Mistakes can carry significant consequences, encouraging players to learn attack patterns rather than relying solely on aggressive combat.
Players can use different runes and skills to develop strategies for individual encounters. New abilities acquired during the adventure also affect exploration and puzzle-solving, allowing Mira to reach areas that were previously inaccessible.
The developers estimate that Blades of Mirage will offer approximately eight hours of gameplay, with an emphasis on variety, discovery, and carefully designed encounters.
Southeast Asian Culture Shapes the Game’s Identity
While Blades of Mirage draws gameplay inspiration from titles including Death’s Door, Tunic, and Bastion, its setting and visual identity are strongly influenced by Southeast Asian culture.
That cultural foundation gives the project a distinct identity within the action RPG genre, combining regional artistic influences with familiar mechanics such as exploration, ability progression, boss battles, and environmental puzzles.
Agate, headquartered in Bandung, Indonesia, has operated since 2009. The developer has worked across Android, iOS, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Steam and says it has contributed to more than 250 games while serving more than 200 clients worldwide.
Red Dunes Games, meanwhile, is an independent developer and publisher headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The company focuses on developing and publishing original games intended for international audiences.
Tokyo Game Show 2026 Marks 30th Anniversary
The appearance of Blades of Mirage comes during a milestone year for Tokyo Game Show. The 2026 edition marks the event’s 30th anniversary and will be the first Tokyo Game Show held across five days.
The expanded event is expected to bring together game developers, publishers, content creators, industry professionals, and players from around the world, with upcoming releases and independent projects forming part of the broader showcase.
For Blades of Mirage, the event provides an opportunity to put its combat and exploration systems directly in front of players while introducing a wider international audience to its Southeast Asian-inspired world.
With its blend of challenging boss encounters, puzzle-driven exploration, ability progression, and culturally influenced visual design, Blades of Mirage is positioning itself as a distinctive action RPG as it heads to Tokyo Game Show 2026.
