Sci-Fi Western Shooter Brings Competitive Teamplay and Betrayal to Steam
A new indie multiplayer shooter is entering the crowded roguelite market with a blend of cooperative gameplay, competitive twists, and retro-inspired visuals. Bounty Brawl: Most Wanted, developed by Nanuq and published by Infini Fun, officially launched on PC via Steam on May 28.
The game combines sci-fi western themes with pixel-art graphics and cyberpunk aesthetics, offering players a fast-paced experience built around bounty hunting, randomized missions, and four-player co-op action. Designed for short, replayable sessions, the title aims to appeal to players looking for quick multiplayer runs rather than lengthy progression-heavy roguelites.
A Galaxy of Bounty Hunters and High-Stakes Missions
Set in the universe of the Hunter Haven guild, Bounty Brawl: Most Wanted places players in the role of outlaw bounty hunters competing for fame and survival across dangerous environments.
Players can choose from a roster of eight distinct characters, each equipped with unique combat abilities and individual storylines. Some characters focus on speed and mobility, while others specialize in melee combat or tactical attacks. Rudy, for example, emphasizes agility, while Gorogorzo wields a deadly katana designed for close-range encounters.
The game’s structure revolves around procedurally generated rooms filled with enemies, environmental hazards, and escalating combat challenges. Players can improve their equipment and abilities by purchasing upgrades through the in-game Black Market system between runs.
A major gameplay mechanic centers around the “laser lasso,” which functions as both a traversal tool and a combat weapon. Players can use it to move quickly across maps, execute finishing attacks, or pull teammates away from danger during chaotic encounters.
Co-Op Gameplay With a Competitive Edge
While Bounty Brawl: Most Wanted emphasizes teamwork, the game also introduces a competitive layer designed to create tension among players.
Missions support solo play as well as four-player cooperative sessions through online matchmaking, private lobbies, and local multiplayer. During hunts, players battle through caves, industrial wastelands, and sludge-covered environments while taking down enemy waves and bosses.
Boss fights include enemies such as Sweetshot the Bullseye and Viper the Potion Master, each offering valuable rewards upon defeat. However, alliances can quickly collapse once missions near completion.
At the end of each run, the game transitions into a “Final Showdown,” where surviving bounty hunters compete against one another for ultimate victory and bragging rights. The mechanic introduces a social element that encourages both cooperation and betrayal, similar to party-focused multiplayer games that reward unpredictable player interactions.
Developers Emphasize Accessible Roguelite Sessions
According to the development team, the game was designed to deliver shorter sessions that are easier to jump into compared to many modern roguelites, which often require long-term progression commitments.
“Bounty Brawl: Most Wanted comes from a place of living out your dreams to become a bounty hunter amongst friends,” said Nat Rangsarannon, Director of Bounty Brawl at Nanuq. “Dive into a quick run without the long-term commitments of other roguelites, but watch out for backstabbing buddies!”
The game’s mix of cooperative gameplay and last-minute competition reflects a growing trend in multiplayer titles that blend teamwork with social deception mechanics. In the United States, games emphasizing quick online sessions and replayability continue to perform well on platforms like Steam, especially among players seeking casual group experiences.
Pricing, Platforms, and Language Support
Bounty Brawl: Most Wanted is now available on PC through Steam for $15.99.
The game includes text support for multiple languages, including English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Thai, and Traditional Chinese.
With its combination of roguelite mechanics, sci-fi western themes, and competitive multiplayer chaos, Bounty Brawl: Most Wanted enters the market as another example of the indie gaming industry’s continued experimentation with hybrid co-op experiences.
