Cuxhaven becomes the bottleneck of the German energy transition

hamburg As of 2035, as much electricity as 40 nuclear power plants will be generated from wind power in the German Bight. But this ambitious plan of the Federal Minister of the Economy, Robert Habeck (Greens), was thwarted a few days ago by a ruling by the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig.

The judges confirmed the previous sentences in the last instance. The lawyers failed to take into account drastic changes in Germany’s power supply requirements during the seven-year legal dispute.

Jan Ninnemann, a professor at the Hamburg School of Business Administration, warns: “The German energy transition, at least as far as offshore wind is concerned, is in danger of failing due to a lack of port capacity.” : After the cancellation of the expansion in Bremerhaven remains on the coast of Germany, only Cuxhaven remains as a relevant German high seas port.
