Older Apple smartphones have received an emergency update. This is reported by the iClarified edition.
The American company suddenly released an update for outdated devices – smartphones, tablets, and players. The iOS 12.5.4 update was released for iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 and 6 Plus introduced in 2013 and 2014. In addition, a special version of the operating system has been made available for the iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and iPad mini 3, the sixth generation iPod touch.
The listed devices are not available in official sale and are not supported for current versions of iOS. IOS 12, which received security patches, was introduced in 2018. The update included support for FaceTime video calls for 32 people, Screen Time, Siri shortcuts, and the ability to autocomplete a code from Messages.
The update includes security patches and is highly recommended for installation.
This is not the first time that Apple has released urgent security updates for legacy devices. Late March apple presented IOS 14.4.2 update, targeting iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, 3rd generation iPad mini, 1st generation iPad Air, and 6th generation iPod touch.
