Philippe Lucas, upon France Blue Gironde, judged the start of the season for Girondins de Bordeaux.
“There are a lot of new players, a new coach, a new president. There are many things that have changed, with many ambitions. We continue to feel that this new management wants to return to an ambitious club, to play the leading roles. Getting started is tricky, especially in terms of points. The important thing is to score points to calm down, especially at home: many points have already been lost, and that is a shame […] What can be the trigger is to continue on a small streak, such as winning a game at home and going to confirm it abroad, that the group gains confidence in its means and its possibilities. Today, what seems most complicated to me is in the middle. Osmosis must be done quickly because winning the battle of the middle is still the most important thing to win games. […] As long as we do not have good results away from home, the home game is played under pressure because it is absolutely necessary to win. And the less you get there, the more pressure arises. We had games without a hearing with confinement, we had a lot of trouble winning. Now we have found our audience, but despite that we realize that it is difficult to be a teacher at home ”.
