New Sesame Street Adventure Game Aims to Introduce Preschoolers to Story-Driven Gaming
A new video game inspired by the long-running children’s television series Sesame Street is set to arrive on major gaming platforms in October 2026, offering young players a family-friendly adventure centered on exploration, creativity, and cooperative play.
Publisher Outright Games announced Sesame Street: Friends & Fun, a 3D narrative adventure game designed specifically for preschool-aged children. The title will launch on Oct. 9, 2026, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The game marks the latest expansion of the iconic educational brand into interactive entertainment, continuing a decades-long effort to bring Sesame Street’s educational approach into digital media.
Players Join the Neighborhood Ahead of a Community Celebration
In Sesame Street: Friends & Fun, players arrive as the newest resident of Sesame Street just as preparations begin for a neighborhood celebration. The game focuses on storytelling and exploration rather than competitive gameplay, with players helping familiar characters organize activities and complete tasks leading up to the event.
Players will interact with classic Sesame Street characters including Elmo, Grover, Bert, and Ernie while exploring locations inspired by the television series.
The game also allows users to create and customize their own character and personalize their in-game home, giving children opportunities for creative expression within the virtual neighborhood.
Gameplay Designed for Young Children and Families
According to Outright Games, the title has been designed with accessibility and ease of play in mind for younger audiences who may be experiencing video games for the first time.
The game includes intuitive controls, simple challenges, and positive reinforcement systems intended to encourage exploration without pressure or complex mechanics. Mini-games and interactive tasks integrated throughout the story introduce early math concepts and basic educational skills in a playful format.
Parents and caregivers can also participate through a local two-player cooperative mode, allowing siblings, friends, or adults to join children during gameplay.
The publisher said the game emphasizes a safe and welcoming environment, reflecting the educational and emotional themes that have defined Sesame Street for generations of viewers in the United States and around the world.
Sesame Street Continues Expanding Into Interactive Entertainment
While Sesame Street is primarily known as one of America’s most influential children’s television programs, the franchise has maintained a presence in gaming for more than four decades.
Interactive Sesame Street experiences date back to 1981 with the release of Sesame Street: Countdown for the Atari 2600. Since then, the franchise has expanded into console games, educational apps, and online learning experiences through SesameStreet.org.
Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind the series, said its interactive projects are intended to strengthen children’s connections with characters and educational storytelling in engaging and age-appropriate ways.
The organization has increasingly adapted its content for digital platforms as younger audiences spend more time with interactive media and connected devices at home.
A Global Brand With Lasting Educational Influence
Since debuting on American television in 1969, Sesame Street has become one of the most recognized children’s brands worldwide. The program now reaches more than 300 million households across 190 countries and is available in 30 languages.
The franchise has earned more than 250 Emmy Awards and is widely recognized for combining entertainment with research-based educational programming focused on literacy, emotional development, and social skills.
For many American families, Sesame Street has remained a cultural fixture across multiple generations, with characters such as Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and Elmo becoming deeply embedded in children’s media and education.
Outright Games Expands Family Entertainment Portfolio
London-based Outright Games has focused heavily on family-oriented titles and licensed entertainment properties since its founding in 2016.
The company has released games based on major children’s franchises including Peppa Pig, PAW Patrol, Justice League, Star Trek Prodigy, and DreamWorks Dragons.
With Sesame Street: Friends & Fun, the publisher is targeting younger players and parents seeking age-appropriate gaming experiences in a market increasingly dominated by large-scale multiplayer and action-focused titles.
The game is scheduled for release on Oct. 9, 2026, across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
