Tesla wants to equip its electric cars with support for the Steam Gaming platform. A demo should already be available in August.
The selection of games available on the Tesla EV models’ entertainment system could expand significantly later this year. Like Tesla CEO Elon Musk in one
, the company is working on the integration of the Steam platform. They are already making “great progress” and a first demo can be expected “probably next month”.
The exact implementation is still unclear
Some games like “Sonic the Hedgehog 1” or “Cuphead” are already available through the entertainment system through the Tesla Arcade integrated in electric cars. Support for Steam now could make that choice that much bigger. Exactly what the Steam integration will look like is not yet known. It remains to be seen how many games will be supported and if users will be able to purchase from Steam on their EV.
Triple-A title playable in Teslas
Tesla had promised electric vehicle owners to bring “The Witcher” and “Cyberpunk 2077” to the new Model X and Model S models.
. However, the head of Tesla has not yet fulfilled this promise. The planned Steam integration could be an indication that Tesla doesn’t want top-tier titles to be available individually, but rather through the Steam platform in its vehicles.
