Coffee Stain Publishing and Swedish developer Lavapotion have released Wielders of the Essence, a new fantasy horde survival game combining bullet heaven combat, incremental progression and base-building mechanics. Available now on PC through Steam, the game takes players into the world of Songs of Conquest, introducing a different style of adventure within the established fantasy setting.

Released on 5 November 2026, the title features procedurally generated maps, spell-based combat and a progression system that rewards players for developing their base between runs.

Originally announced in November 2025, Wielders of the Essence is a spin-off from Lavapotion’s fantasy strategy game Songs of Conquest.

While the original title focuses on turn-based strategy, the new release explores the same fictional universe through action-oriented survival gameplay.

Players assume the role of a spellcasting frog, travelling across procedurally generated adventure maps while battling waves of enemies.

The game retains familiar creatures, environments and distinctive pixel-art visuals from Songs of Conquest, while introducing mechanics designed around shorter, repeatable adventures.
